Creates platform for awareness
SUPPORTING the world tour for international best-selling author Kelly Markey's new book releases, Zululanders converged at ZCBF's Flamingo Hall for the local launch on Friday.
With a panel of local women leaders from the corporate and community arena unpacking her two books The Life of Jayandra – Be The Voice For Those That Are Too Broken To Raise Their Own and Making Sage Decisions,
Zululanders were treated to a night of inspiration, motivation, and essential information shared on suicide awareness and prevention.
The fundraiser event hosted by LifeLine Zululand, of which the former Zululander is an avid supporter, entailed an evening of networking, information sharing, book signings and a meet-and-greet with the Australian-based author.
The evening unfolded with panellists unpacking chapters of the books, with the renowned author taking guests on a journey to examine the decisions we make, how we need to live with them, and the discipline behind our emotions in Making Sage Decisions.
Her second book, The Life of Jayandra compassionately explores the darkness that surrounds suicide and illuminates a path towards hope, resilience and recovery, and is an excellent resource tool for all ages. She shares on her personal experience of losing her brother to suicide in 2023, and with gripping personal stories and expert research, Kelly delves into the intricate web of emotions that can lead someone to contemplate suicide, demystifying the struggles often concealed behind smiles. LifeLine Zululand CEO Michelle Jewlal thanked the event's sponsors, as well as the NPO's supporters and Markey for adding Zululand to her global tour and for advocating for suicide awareness through her writing.
