FERIAS / SHOWS La industria española crece en la feria IZB / Spanish industry grows in IZB show
Spanish industry takes full advantage of the true scope of IZB
Spanish firms takes stock of their participation in IZB, which has seen considerable growth in terms of the range of companies demonstrating their potential in Wolfsburg.
To understand the possibilities offered by IZB to a wide range of different companies including SMEs, the fourth edition in which the association of Madrid-based companies known as has participated is a good place to
Espacio Subconmeeting start. The group’s commercial manager, Dolores Vallé, notes that, for the group, this year’s edition represents “a significant qualitative leap, as we presented a highly visual stand that was very much in line with the philosophy of collaboration among companies. The fair in itself seemed slight less lively than previous editions with less visitors. Having said that, according to our exhibitors it didn’t effect them, as they improved on results from two years ago”. Espacio Subconmeeting will return for the 2020 edition, as our companies want to, with the prospect of new additions”. Vallé adds that “our formula continues to allow us to take advantage of the synergies of participants, because when one of our companies is contacted, there is always the option of offering the products of another”. Collaboration among companies is increasingly more essential. In this respect, we never stop looking for suppliers of new technologies that still haven’t joined, and as such Espacio Subconmeeting is fast becoming a more and more global platform”. Four companies took part in the Espacio Subconmeeting stand. On behalf of Nagamohr, the company’s director of projects, Maribel Herrera, explained that “after attending for three years in a row, Nagamohr still sees the event as the best in the sector for finding new clients. Attendance has been low compared with previous editions, but the results are
In addition to new clients, we have met some companies in our field, which opens up an array of improvements to take advantage of for the future. We left with the contacts of four new potential clients and we even received a request for proposals during the fair itself. This is enough to meet our initial goal. We’d love to be able to attend in the future”. Valentín Sprecher, general director of Ges, added: “We have improved our results in
Industrias respect to last year. As soon as we came back we received requests for proposals from several of our new contacts. This is the perfect fair for Industrias Ges after taking part on various occasions and we’re hopeful of diversifying/increasing our client base. We will definitely return for the next edition in view of our results”. Mario Lobato, general director of stated that “the fair continues to generate,
Técnica del Decoletaje, perhaps, a small number of contacts with great potential. In just the week after the fair we received five requests for proposals with very respectable figures, which confirms the high quality of visitors”. The company attended once again presenting the option of machining parts in large series, in multi-spindle CNC lathes up to 67 mm in diameter.

“We are possibly the only European bar turning company with multi-spindle machining capacity (large series) from 3 to 67 mm”. The association of companies was completed by Alumitran, the only Spanish-owned firm specialised in aluminium extrusion certified according
AV to the new IATF 16949 standard. Antonio González, head of quality, outlined how they made “a rough estimation of all the sectors that supply the automotive industry to examine possible future applications of aluminium in the automotive sector. We met an interesting contact, a German company that works on an international scale using parts that we currently produce. Working with them in the medium term could be achievable”. The Spanish Association of Automotive Suppliers, CO-OPERATION Sernauto, took part in the fair for the first time to promote its importance to Spanish industry. It collaborated with the Automotive Cluster of Aragon (CAAR) and - two organisations taking part for the third time - to
Aragón Exterior (AREX) make up the Spanish pavilion. The head of market segment at Sernauto, Begoña Llamazares, noted the potential of the Spanish companies in attendance, stressing the merit of the SMEs. Ten companies based in Aragon – ASAI, Composites Aragón, Enganches Aragón-Towcar, MYPA, Miju, Miasa (headquartered in Navarra), Morales Molding (MoMo), TI Automotive System, Zfoam España and Zatec – shared the stand with Compañía Levantina de Reductores (CLR), Mecanizados Aranda and Valver. We had a really positive experience at the fair”, said David Romeral, managing director of CAAR, “as we have worked on three lines: on the one hand, with the fair’s visiting companies holding meetings with buyers from Volkswagen Group, Kia and Renault Nissan; and on the other hand, with companies participating in the fair itself - the main European Tier 1 companies - who learnt about the industrial capacity of Aragon and, finally, thanks to Aragón Exterior, we were able to contact our SMEs with the buyers of different European multinationals”.
Iker Chasco, Key Account Manager, constata “menos movimiento del esperado y Sernauto took advantage of the fair to present, in collaboration with ICEX Spain Trade and Investment, the Autoparts from Spain platform (information on Spanish automotive suppliers in just one click). The platform consists of a project to promote Spanish industry and the export capacities of manufacturers of automotive equipment and components ‘made in Spain’. “IZB has become one of the leading events for the automotive supplier industry and as Spain is one of the strongest European industries it had to be a part of it”, said José Portilla, the general director of Sernauto. The Navarra-based firm , which has a plant in Zuera (Zaragoza), also participated in the group
Miasa of Aragonese companies. Iker Chasco, key account manager, noted that it was “less busy than expected and there was hardly any involvement from the purchasing departments of Volkswagen, which were our first targets”. Nevertheless, he predicts “a greater return from Tier 1, the majority of whom were very welcoming at their stands. In fact, we have already begun initial talks (confidentiality agreements, presentations, RFQ for competitive bidding, etc.) with a few of them. The collaboration of CAAR and AREX facilitating contacts before and during the far was of great help”. Chasco adds that “the main thing was promoting Miasa as a company in the field of aluminium ma-

Over the last six years we have been diversifying and establishing our position by manufacturing other products such as brackets, oil pump shutters, etc. We receive increasingly more RFQs for parts other than selector forks”.
Aragón, attracted by the positive appraisal of other companies within CAAR of previous Composites events, was thankful of the opportunity to promote itself at an event “in which leading companies convene”. They took the chance to exhibit one of their most emblematic parts for the automotive sector, the exclusive aluminium Tail Light Bezels of the Bugatti Chiron, of which only 500 have been made. The company also showcased new composite materials and processes with two examples of parts manufactured in carbon fibre by means of RTM technology. José Ramón Benedi, account manager of Zatec, highly rated participating as part of CAAR and the Sernauto stand, as well as the work done prior to the fair to create a personalised contact book in collaboration with Aragón Exterior. “We have exceeded our expectations in terms of contact with Tier 1 and Tier 2. For our type of product, plastic injection moulding of small and technical parts, the results will be seen in the medium to long term. We continue looking towards the future focusing on Industry 4.0, investing in monitoring and optimising production with IoT technologies”. Valérie Amédéo, sales manager of Aragón-TowCar, notes that for their third edition
Enganches the company “continues to look for new clients and partners in the field of original equipment. The most important thing is not that Volkswagen Group is in attendance, but the participation of other manufacturers such as BMW, Fiat, Hyundai, Kia, Mitsubishi, PSA Group and Toyota. IZB is a great opportunity to obtain an overview of the market and to learn about what our competition is doing. We don’t just try to sell, but to learn from the very best. Westfalia suppliers with offers for screws for the towbars came to our stand”. The company presented its TowBox V3 luggage carrier and two award-winning products at the Innovation Gallery of Automechanika Frankfurt: the Full Led pilots and the Integra LED connector, both with a European patent. Katalin Kéri, sales manager of Valver, a Galician GAINING EXPERIENCE firm currently in the process of relocating its headquarters, explained: “We presented aluminium

Mitsubishi, Grupo PSA o Toyota. Nuestro objetivo es darnos a conocer internacionalmente y la feria IZB de ha sido una muy buena oportunidad para establecer contactos con empresas claves del sector automovilístico. took part as an exhibitor at the fair for the very first time, which they attended Mecanizados Aranda “without setting any kind of expectations, only with the aim of gaining experience in regard to possible future events of a similar kind and, of course, to promote the company for potential new clients”, said its CEO, Héctor Elena. “We’ve made contacts not just from the type of companies anticipated, but also from others in search of similar supplier products and even with potential suppliers of services with high added value”. The Burgos-based firm presented itself “as a verified supplier for hot stamping lines, based on more than 15 years of dedication to such systems. “Due to space and weight limitations we were only able to show in situ the upper part of the B-pillar stud press and some rams from the front panel of the roof. Perhaps the size and location of the stand were not the most suitable, primarily because of the fact that we were not in the right pavilion for the characteristics
