Uhas participated in the third edition of BFA by means of a spinout, nimate Robótica with a solution that merges a robot with a vision system. This combination enables installation in workplaces in a precise and secure way with AGV technology in order to be able to move through the plant with autonomy. Cástor González, manager and sales director, explains that “it is one of the projects that we had to develop this year (we had submitted two to the call for projects), and the BFA seemed like a good framework in which to do it. Every year we dedicate part of our activity to the development of innovative products, which incurs considerable cost for the company without knowing beforehand if it will turn out well. As a consequence any initiative that helps in this regard is much appreciated on our behalf. “We believe that it is an innovative product that does not exist in our field”, says González. “We intend to take advantage of our client portfolio (practically all the Tier 1 from the automotive sector that we have in our sphere, in addition to Groupe PSA as final manufacturer), all of which are multinationals whom we work with on a local level and then extrapolate this to all their plants in the group, thus increasing our percentage of exports and internationalisation”. “Since we started out, we have worked in collaboration with companies similar to ours and
This is helping our framework to grow in terms of engineering companies, but also in respect to component manufacturers”. From now on, Unimate seeks “to continue expanding in a sustainable manner (this year we were classified as a fast-growing company with high performance in ARDAN indicators). We’re looking to improve our competitiveness in processes and the quality of our products/services to expand our business on an international scale, while, in turn, diversifying

joined the BFA in ADVANTAGEOUS POSITION 2009, through CEAGA. “Participating in the BFA has Kaleido Technologies Solutions allowed us to test out the identified technology in a real automotive environment with knowledge of the sector. The testing framework created during the acceleration phase puts us in an advantageous position over possible competitors and allows us to stand out from the rest”, says Nicolás Troncoso, head of Innovation. At first, the company decided to participate in an acceleration phase in which it identified an innovative technology (Self Driving Vehicles, SDV) to reduce the gap between the world of logistics (storage) and the production sphere (production lines) in the automotive sector. “This gap is the focus of significant problems, due to the inefficiencies that arise from a lack of automation and digitalisation”. Thereupon, the company has decided to continue the process offered by BFA by participating in the second phase: project consolidation”. Troncoso explains: “Since it concerns plug and play technology, innovation fundamentally lies in the fact that it doesn’t require physical installation and allows for the incorporation or withdrawal of vehicles into the system without having to engage in any programming or installation. Its versatility and load capacity mean it can be integrated into the production line itself, replacing fixed infrastructure with mobile infrastructure, allowing new devices to be added to the system immediately and without reprograming. During the acceleration phase we verified that the SDV technology piques the interest, in quite a significant way, of many large automotive
Many of them are in the phase of analysing suppliers of similar technology, all focused on digitalisation and automation in industrial and storage contexts, but no one has yet managed to deploy them successfully. In light of all this we believe that our project has great potential and capacity both in the Galician automotive sphere and on an international scale”. Troncoso believes that initiatives such as BFA and other flagship programmes from the Galician Innovation Agency, such as the Network of Accelerators of Galicia, foster the creation of new projects and contribute to strengthening this collaborative environment. The company hopes to carry on furnishing the sector with technological value in its specialism. BFA’s further reach is exemplified by the ZERO DEFECTS participation of the Basque company . Txema Gallego, the company’s CEO, explains that
CIN Systems the opportunity arose “from a seminar organised by IGAPE in Santiago on 30 July 2018 on support for entrepreneurship in Galicia. We participated in a round table talking about our experience in the BIND 4.0 programme from SPRI. We coincided with the BFA team, who liked our value proposition and encouraged us to submit the application. The firm has formed a new company in Nigrán (Pontevedra), “and we are offering various artificial vision projects. We are working on a show room with various demonstrators so that different
presas tractoras.
“Una de las principales ventajas de esta plataforma de monitorización es que companies from the Galician automotive sector can carry out measurement tests on their parts with our technology. The innovation of our products/ services lies in guaranteeing zero defects in parts and subassemblies through pioneering conoscopic holography”. This interferometry technology consists of a reflect beam that is received by a sensor in a collinear shape, enabling 3D scans of complex geometries, cavities, bottoms of holes, etc. It even allows the lateral surface of holes to be digitised using a periscope. These scans are performed at very high speed and, after applying the corresponding algorithms, they inform us of whether the dimensions of a part are within the tolerances specified and/or if it has a crack or surface defect, without lengthening its manufacturing time”. Gallego anticipates that “the reach of our solutions in the automotive sector, both on a national and international scale, will be very broad. They solve a problem in an objective and automatic manner, which up until now has reverted to techniques such as visual inspection or touch, requiring great human concentration and not guaranteeing zero defects over time”. Gallego notes that projects such as the BFA or programmes such as BIND 4.0 make it possible for small companies with innovative, and in some cases even disruptive, technologies to show their differentiated value propositions to important leading companies. “Large companies are astonished to see how micro-enterprises and small companies can understand and solve, in a very streamlined way, issues that become costly, longterm projects and sometimes do not end up solving the problem posed”. At the moment, CIN Systems is working with companies from the automotive sector such as Mercedes Benz, Fagor Ederlan, Gestamp and Erreka, “which are putting forward new projects both on a national and international scale. In the medium term we think that we will be implemented in many national manufacturers and their suppliers”. At Solutions, the possibility SIGNIFICANT HEADWAY of participating in the BFA arose from a project

Being part of the platform has seen us make really significant headway. In addition to a free working space it provides us with specific training and a personalised tutor, in our case Groupe PSA, as well as a network of contacts and visibility in the automotive sector”, says Óscar González, head of Marketing and Sales. Muutech provides a centralised monitoring platform in which data from any source, whether industrial, I.T. or telecommunications or IoT, is managed and analysed. “One of the main benefits of this monitoring platform is that it can collect and analyse data from any element and manufacturer, from an industrial robot, automaton or PLC, to a server, router or temperature sensor, for example”, said González. “The strength of the platform allows for the acquisition and analysis of a great amount of data from any source, which makes a broad overview of the whole business possible from one single centralised application. As such, it is possible to correlate data from different areas such as production, sales or energy efficiency, from one control panel, issuing intelligent alarms that anticipate problems and, in turn, automate actions, optimising resources to the fullest, whether they are materials or humans”. To conclude, Óscar González points out that “during our first year, perspectives have been good in

We have achieved turnover above expectations and we are planning to enter the European market where we already have a contact in operation”. Over recent years the firm has been CYBERSECURITY developing cybersecurity projects in view of the
Inprosec growing need for such functions in the automotive sector. Thanks to the BFA initiative, and through the creation of Inprosec-Auto, “we have managed to steer our portfolio better, in such a way that not only do we now offer specific solutions for the automotive industry, but we have expanded our industry products and services in general”, say Iago Fortes and Alejandro Alonso, managing director and director of Operations, respectively. “The Inprosec-Auto project stands as a solution capable of focusing cybersecurity from both a strategic and organisational perspective as well as a technical perspective, geared especially towards the automotive sector and industry 4.0. The Galician automotive sector is one step away from achieving excellence and being able to challenge the sector’s leaders, which is why it is necessary to have a cybersecurity expert who is capable of addressing matters related to this field, offering a technical perspective on the biggest vulnerabilities”. Inprosec-Auto is currently working on cybersecurity products, specifically an SIEM (security information and event management) system for compiling and managing information from all the machines in a factory to foresee attacks or system failures. Fortes and Alonso believe that “the existence of initiatives such as BFA provide all the essential
CEAGA’s support of the initiative helps startups to get a better grasp of the needs of the sector and the advances that are occurring in respect to the them”. Inprosec Auto hopes to grow not only in terms of its audit and consulting services, but also in regard to the development of its product, with which it hopes to carve out a niche in factory monitoring. “When we found about this initiative we realised BLOCKCHAIN what a great opportunity it was to work with leading entities from the automotive sector, thus acting as a catalyst for the work that we were already carrying out to incorporate P2P technologies into our product Docuten”, says Diego González, Blockchain Expert at
Technologies. “The aim of the first project that we are developing Enxendra together with BFA is the implementation of a complete certification cycle in the blockchain of both invoices and documents from our Docuten platform. To make this distributed certification cycle possible, we are working on the incorporation of Ethereum technology, through Docuten Smart Contracts. The goal is to be able to offer a sectorial solution, geared primarily towards the automotive sector, including integration with a multisector blockchain network such as Alastria”, González adds. With this objective, we intend to configure a digital notary service for operations using signatures, as well as to monitor the life cycle of documents and invoices from a scalable, distributed and publically auditable infrastructure. In the specific context of the automotive industry, this function can have diverse applications: certifying the exchange and signature of contracts between a company and their clients and suppliers, as well as the life cycle of invoices and delivery slips; substituting the figure of the trusted third party, guaranteeing mechanisms of distributed transparency; and reducing the costs associated with the management, transport and storage of documents. Any of these applications can be transposed to international contexts. By encouraging the continued fostering of the emergence of collaborative environments such as the BFA, “in which companies requesting services and technologies become leading companies and steer the efforts of the companies and technological centres”, Enxendra is looking to continue taking advantage of the potential of blockchain. “It allows us to offer digital notary services that guarantee the traceability of operations between different actors in the value chain of the automotive industry, with a commitment towards a decentralised model”.
