El presidente de la Generalitat Valenciana, Ximo Puig presentó, a mediados de febrero, la iniciativa público-privada, Alianza Valenciana para las Baterías, a través de la cual se impulsará un centro de investigación y una planta de producción de baterías que permitirán la transición ecológica y una movilidad sostenible. / In mid-February, the president of the Generalitat Valenciana, Ximo Puig, presented the public-private initiative, Valencian Alliance for Batteries, through which a research centre and a battery production plant will be promoted that will allow the ecological and sustainable mobility transition.
Este proyecto nace como fruto de la cooperación entre la administración autonómica con la firma que lidera la iniciativa, Power Electronics. Puig anunció que se formalizará el acuerdo para constituir el centro de investigación denominado Element València que, según el presidente valenciano, se convertirá en un “referente internacional” en soluciones de almacenamiento de energía. Este núcleo contará con el apoyo de la Generalitat y con la participación del Instituto de Ciencia Molecular de la Universitat de València, el Instituto de Tecnología Química de la Universitat Politència de València, el Instituto Tecnológico de la Energía, y Power Electronics. Forman también parte de este macroproyecto industrial, con el que la Comunidad pretende colocarse a la vanguardia en una de las principales macrotendencias de la automoción y la movilidad sostenible, las siguientes empresas y entidades arraigadas en la Comunidad Valenciana: Ford, Stadler, Iberdrola, Zeleros, UBE, CEV Technologies, IDOM, Ampere Energy, Nutai, Astondoa, Grupo Segura, Endurance Motive, Fácil Solutions, Grupo Valautomoción (ahora Rhenus Automotive), Grupo Gimeno, Inelcom Technology, ITERA Mobility Engineering, HESS, Infamol, Mettecno, Torrecid y Witrac. Según detalló Ximo Puig, “Element València” y la “gigafactoría” impulsadas por la Alianza Valenciana para las Baterías contemplan una inversión conjunta superior a los 2.000 millones de euros, la creación de 30.000 puestos de trabajo, y la aportación al crecimiento del PIB valenciano de 2.500 millones anuales. “Contribuirán a generar empleo de calidad, captar y retener talento, así como crear prosperidad”, porque “la Comunitat Valenciana cuenta con la capacidad investigadora e industrial y las condiciones logísticas necesarias para ello”. Remarcó que el almacenamiento energético será un “elemento clave” en una economía basada en las energías renovables, tras la transición energética y en una nueva movilidad sostenible, y del mismo modo “clave para la transformación de la movilidad en España”, especialmente en la automoción, pero también en la movilidad marítima, ferroviaria, y de cualquier tipo de transporte. En el transcurso de la presentación de la nueva alianza, el CEO de Power Electronics, David Salvo, manifestó el deseo de consolidar a España como líder mundial de energía, a través del Centro de Investigación Element València. Señaló que “disponer de un proyecto empresarial de esta envergadura y el polo científico que va a suponer este centro significa asegurar el futuro de la industria del automóvil en España, pero también dar respuesta a nuevas formas de movilidad, desde el ferrocarril hasta los barcos, pasando por nuevos vehículos como los hyperloop”. “Este proyecto -añadió- impacta, en definitiva, en una nueva industria donde se hace realidad la transición energética ecológica y sostenible, a través del almacenamiento, sin dependencia del exterior”. This project was born as a result of the cooperation between the regional administration and the firm that leads the initiative, Power Electronics. Puig announced that the agreement will be formalised to establish the research centre called Element València, which, according to the Valencian president, will become an “international benchmark” in energy storage solutions. This nucleus will have the support of the Generalitat and with the participation of the Institute of Molecular Science of the University of Valencia, the Institute of Chemical Technology of the Polytechnic University of Valencia, the Technological Institute of Energy, and Power Electronics. As explained by Ximo Puig, “Element València” and the “gigafactory” promoted by the Valencian Alliance for Batteries envisages a joint investment of more than 2 billion euros, the creation of 30,000 jobs, and the contribution to the growth of the Valencian GDP of 2.5 billion annually. “They will contribute to generating quality employment, attracting and retaining talent, as well as creating prosperity”, because “the Community of Valencia has the research and industrial capacity and the necessary logistical conditions for this”. He stressed that energy storage will be a “key element” in an economy based on renewable energies, after the energy transition and a new sustainable mobility, and in the same way “key to the transformation of mobility in Spain”, especially in the automotive sector, but also in maritime, rail, and any type of transport. During the presentation of the new alliance, the CEO of Power Electronics, David Salvo, expressed the desire to consolidate Spain as a world energy leader, through the Element Valencia Research Centre. He pointed out that “having a business project of this magnitude and the scientific hub that this centre will entail means ensuring the future of the automobile industry in Spain, but also responding to new forms of mobility, from rail to ships, as well as new vehicles like hyperloop”. “This project,” he added, “ultimately has an impact on a new industry where the ecological and sustainable energy transition becomes a reality, through storage, without dependence on the outside”.
