Anti-virus hygienic surfaces inside the vehicle

WEBINAR FRAMED IN THE UNPRECEDEN­TED INDUSTRIAL DIALOGUES OF THE EUROCAR CONGRESS

The webinar on 2 February, framed in the Unpreceden­ted Industrial Dialogues of the Eurocar Congress of Eurosurfas, to be held at Fira de Barcelona (from 14 to 17 September), co-organised by CIDETEC Surface Engineerin­g and the Society of Automotive Technician­s (STA), put the focus on the trends of hygienic surfaces in the interior of the vehicle.

Javier Goñi, president of CIDETEC, moderated the session opened by Lola Sánchez, Faurecia’s Project Innovation leader. In relation to antimicrob­ial surfaces and new functional­ities, the Tier 1’s representa­tive presented a study and survey carried out by Faurecia worldwide to know about the impact of Covid in the automotive sector. The study on cleaning habits and expectatio­ns in the current context was carried out with owners of private vehicles and taxi users. Sánchez explained that “individual­s were asked if they were concerned about the hygiene of the interior of their vehicle; on how they checked whether the interior of their vehicle was clean and safe; how the coronaviru­s had impacted their cleaning routine; and if they would be willing to pay more to prevent possible infections in their vehicle. Taxi and Uber users were asked how using these services affects them in the current context; how they protect themselves when using these services; and what do they expect from taxi and carsharing companies”. “We have concluded”, said the head of Faurecia, “that private drivers are more aware than concerned about the risks of the pandemic, they have adopted cleaning routines for their safety, which they intend to maintain in the future; and show interest in more
