There are many people who want to celebrate a private event in the privacy of their own home or at an estate that has been specially prepared to host events, doing so without having to sacrifice the impeccable service offered by five-star hotels.to help meet that demand, the iconic Carlton Hotel of Bilbao has created its own catering and events planning service known as Carlton Taste.

The elegance and know-how acquired by the hotel over its 94 years of history is now being taken to the gardens, villas, mansions, and estates of the Basque Country. Whether it’s to celebrate a birthday, a business lunch, a wedding, a family reunion, or a cocktail party with friends, Carlton Taste offers custom menus. The complexity and variety of the dishes offered is surprising: among diners’ favorites are the cubes of smoked salmon with a blue cheese emulsion and seaweed powder, roast beef with mushroom confit and a reduction sauce, and the beet and crème fraîche basket with roasted onion and thyme honey – great flavors that live up to the name of the hotel they represent.

In terms of the pre-set cocktail party menus at the Carlton, there are two proposals of wines and pintxos, as well as a menu with sparkling wine and sweet snacks, a menu based on hors d’oeuvres, another one (called Artagan) which has cold, hot, and sweet appetizers, and even a menu with heart-healthy products. The most complete cocktail party option –the Premium option– which could very well take the place of a meal, includes delicacies like the mango Bellini with freeze-dried raspberrie­s, the jumbo prawn cascade with mayonnaise, and the mascarpone cheese cream with berries and “pop rocks.”

In the case of meals served at a table, Carlton Taste proposes three different menus for celebratio­ns. For weddings, however, there is a single menu that is customizab­le with appetizing dishes ranging from roast monkfish in vanilla butter with carabinero prawn cream and sea bass confit with a mushroom emulsion and shellfish ragout.all of these meals can be topped off with an Iberian acorn-fed ham station, an oriental station, or a third sweet alternativ­e.

From its inception, Carlton has been an innovative hotel – we must remember that it was the first hotel in Spain to have bathrooms in all of its rooms– and, with this new catering service, it will conquer the best parties and celebratio­ns in the Basque Country.
