Palacio Miramar / Miramar Palace
Located in the most privileged spot in the bay, with Ondarreta Beach on one side and La Concha Beach on the other, Miramar is, without a doubt, an icon of San Sebastián. It was designed in 1888 by the architect Ralph Selden Wornum, in the English Queen Anne cottage style. The palace is surrounded by a lush park, designed by the famous landscaper Pierre Ducasse.the construction of the complex was commissioned by Queen Maria Christina, who decided to establish her summer residence in San Sebastián.
Miramar is currently used for holding prestigious events. It has an experienced and committed team that strives for excellence in service and provides the client with personal attention tailored to his or her specific needs. The elegant lounges, dining rooms, and bedrooms where the royal family once lived are today event rooms used by institutions and private companies to organize conferences, talks, presentations, exhibitions, cocktail parties, and dinners that comply with the highest of standards. The building, which can be rented partially or in its entirety, has meeting rooms on its three floors.
The main floor is quite cozy and features wooden floors and walls, coffered ceilings, and large fireplaces. This noble area has six multipurpose spaces that can be rented: the ‘Salón Petit’ (‘Petit Salon’), which can seat up to 50 people and the ‘Hall Sur’ (‘South Hall’), measuring 80 m2, have direct access to a terrace with views of the forest; the ‘Comedor Real’ (‘Royal Dining Room’), which can accommodate up to 100 people, is presided by a grandiose fireplace; and the ‘Salón de Madera’ (‘Wooden Hall’), the ‘Salón Blanco’ (‘White Hall’), and the ‘Salón de Música’ (‘Music Hall’) are the most requested of all. The latter halls, with capacities for 60, 70, and 100 people respectively, offer spectacular views of the sea and have access to a terrace with a staircase that leads down to the palace’s front gardens. Additionally, there is also a press room available with a public address system and capacity for 30 people.
The first floor houses the Julio Caro Baroja Hall, set up as a classroom and with a capacity for 190 people.this hall has the equipment and technology necessary to hold all kinds of conferences, meetings, seminars, and workshops. Likewise, the building has other unique spaces with capacities for between 70 and 160 people.
Throughout the year, conferences, award ceremonies, company conventions, fashion shows, weddings, fairs, gastronomic events, San Sebastián Festival events, etc. are held at Miramar and it has even served as the base of operations for the filming of Woody Allen’s film ‘Rifkin’s Festival.’ At BASQUE LUXURY we are completely in love with the beauty, uniqueness, and history of this palace, and that is why the first major event of 2021 –the presentation of this magazine– was held at Miramar.
