Sotto Voce

MUSIC A LA CARTE

-

In January of 2020, the church of the San Telmo Museum in San Sebastián hosted the debut of BASQUE LUXURY MAGAZINE 2020. The guests who attended this event toured the Elizabethan-style cloister until reaching the church while listening to Tomaso Albinoni’s Adagio in G Minor performed by the Sotto Voce string quartet, directed by Pedro Miguel Aguinaga.the beauty and finesse of Pedro Miguel’s interpretation, playing a violin made in 1793 by Benjamin Banks, along with the spectacular nature of the church, crowned by the 11 canvases of Josep María Sert, created an immersive atmosphere that guests will undoubtedly have trouble forgetting. And that is precisely where the magic of music lies: in creating an atmosphere that turns an instant into an indelible memory.

Sottovoce has become enormously popular in recent years, having played on the most important stages in the Basque Country. Its success is based, above all, on the group’s ability to adapt to the needs of each client: a violin duo with piano, organ, or guitar, an orchestra, and even accompaniment by ethnic instruments like the duduk, the siku, and the Thracian bagpipes.their latest innovation has been the incorporation of a choir made up of 16 singers; talented male and female voices selected by soprano soloist Ana Salaberria.

The second reason that has brought fame to Sotto Voce is their broad repertoire: Basque music, classical music, pop-rock, jazz, zarzuela, fado, tangos, boleros, operas, and soundtracks. Behind the courage to interpret so many types of music lies the enormous arranging and directing work of Pedro Miguel.

While they are most sought after for weddings (they have played in civil and Catholic ceremonies and even in a Hindu wedding), there are more and more companies that are beginning to brighten up their corporate events with live music by Sotto Voce. We at BASQUE LUXURY can guarantee that Sotto Voce is the perfect soundtrack for any type of self-respecting cocktail party, dinner, or company event.
