In 2021, it will be five years since the inauguration of Heredad Beragu, a boutique hotel aimed at the adult public located in Gallipienzo, a municipality of Navarre with 99 inhabitants that was founded in the tenth century as a defensive site against the Muslims. Patxi and Ramón, the hotel’s owners, opened this lodge with the aim of giving guests a vital experience of transforming disconnection.
The hotel was built by joining four old houses that were next to each other, thus achieving an area of 800 m2 which houses a meeting room, a wine cellar, a restaurant, and nine double rooms. The names of the rooms, ‘Los Almadieros’ (‘The Rafters’),‘la herbolera’ (‘The Herbalist’),‘beragu,’‘la bodega’ (‘The Winery’), ‘El molino’ (‘The Mill’), ‘El hogar’ (‘The Hearth’),‘la capilla,’(‘the Chapel’),‘la almazara’(‘the Oil Press’), and ‘La fragua’ (‘The Forge’) make reference to their previous functions, making them unique spaces. In order to guarantee privacy and tranquility, the Heredad Beragu bar/restaurant is for the exclusive use of guests. Breakfast, which is homemade and based on seasonal and natural ingredients, as well as lunch and dinner, based on local dishes, can be enjoyed both in the indoor dining room and on the gardened terrace.
The commitment made to sustainability is very important. Construction was carried out using 90% recovered and demolition materials: stones, beams, and columns made of woods that are local to the region, lime and sand mortar, floors featuring handmade clay tiles, hydraulic tiles, Spanish roof tiles, old bricks, and stone walls featuring lime mortar and natural dyes.they also make use of biomass and solar energy to heat the establishment’s water and to operate the heating, and they have an ecological vegetable garden and chicken coop to supply the restaurant.
In addition to winning over couples from all over the world, the hotel’s new concept has aroused the interest of many parents eager to have this experience with their children.to ensure the rest and relaxation of the guests while at the same time giving families the opportunity to stay in Gallipienzo, Heredad Beragu is opening a new apartment this year just a few meters away from the hotel – a facility for couples, groups of friends, and families.this country-style duplex has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living/dining room, and magnificent views of the Kaparreta Nature Reserve and the Aragón River Gorge.a new opportunity for adults and the little ones to reconnect with nature.
