There are many luxury hotels around the world that are committed to promoting culture, becoming showcases for great masterpieces and artists. Among the Basque creators, Iñigo Manterola is surely the one who has been most visible in recent years at prestigious lodging establishments. Currently, his recognizable corten steel sculptures are on display at hotels María Cristina and Villa Soro of San Sebastián, Iturregi of Getaria, villa Magalean of Hondarribia, and El Palace of Barcelona, where one of his pieces is even on display in the renowned Joan Miró Art Suite.

He has also had sculptures on show in the past at the Château de Brindos and the Hôtel de Silhouette of Biarritz, as well as atvilla Birdie of San Sebastián and even the Sheraton of Abu Dhabi.these collaborative projects have helped him to gain international fame: his work is present in private collections in the USA, Mexico, Spain, France, Germany, United Arab Emirates, and Japan – among others.

Many of the guests who stay in these hotels, especially those who are passing through the Basque Country, visit Manterola’s studio in Zarautz. This spectacular two-story atelier houses his painting studio, the workshop where he shapes his sculptures, and an exhibition space where visitors can see his latest pieces. Being able to meet an artist in person in the environment where they work and to discover their creative process firsthand is a real luxury, and it is very appreciated that artists like Manterola are so generously willing to open the doors of their workshop.
