Jail demand over Dutch couple's deaths

-

By Nuria Pérez THE PUBLIC prosecutor and the solicitor representing the relatives of Dutch couple Ingrid Visser and Lodewijk Severin - who were killed in Murcia in May 2013 - have asked for a 25-year jail term for each of the three men facing murder charges.

They are also demanding three years' jail for Serafín de Alba, the owner of the rural property in Alquerías, where the bodies were buried.

The alleged killers are Juan Cuenca - the manager of the volleyball club where Ingrid had played from 20092011- and two Romanian nationals named Constantin Stan and Valentin Ion, alleged to be hitmen.

They have all been in prison on remand since being arrested a few days after the bodies were found.

The victims had flown in to Alicante-Elche airport on May 13 last year and travelled to a hotel in Murcia city.

That night they were taken by a friend of Sr Cuenca to a property in an isolated rural area near Molina de Segura to discuss alleged business deals.

The victims were killed that night and then buried in plastic bags on the property.

The prosecutor has asked the alleged killers to pay compensation to the mother and brother of Ingrid Visser and Lodewijk Severein's two daughters.

The defence lawyers now have to submit their report to the judge, who has to decide whether to proceed with the trial.
