Solicitors in Spain

-

Email October 6, 2014 Dear editor,

Please can we have a discussion about solicitors who steal the legal payment money from the purchaser.

We are one of five that this has just happened to with a solicitor.

One of us has already taken this to court (he didn't show) but because we all have a clear audit trail of monies being transferred to him and of the notary office in Dénia contacting the estate agents saying that he did not collect the deeds to pay them, and in turn has not paid the government taxes and land registry fee, the evidence is all there.

I am hoping to have a meeting with my MEP and just waiting to see when this will be as I am very shocked to find out that this is not un-common and that our solicitor has as yet not been struck off the lawyer college listing and can still practice which means he can still do this to others!

It is also apparent that with current lack of systems in place it is very unlikely that we will get out money back and that if we wanted to take him to court this will cost us a further £4000 on top of the £9,000 that we are now in debt with.

Whilst I appreciate that you would not be able to mention his name it would be helpful if you could highlight this story (and I have more details and info for you) in the Costa News.

Our area for purchase was in Pego, three of us, and two others in the Jálon Valley.
