Elche Children's Home Charity at the Homes & Gardens show
Originally part-funded by central government and donations from La Fundación Aros Del Castillo, during the crisis government funding reduced, eventually ceasing altogether, leaving The Association Elche Children's Home totally reliant on the Foundation and Charity. Neither staff nor essential items like electricity bills got paid making donations from the Charity crucial.
Whilst thankfully the home is now able to pay most running costs there's still little spare money, so we now aim to provide the extras that our own children take for granted like birthday presents, visits from the Three Kings, trips to the cinema/McDonalds, and this weekend Lo Crispin Residents Assoc. are funding a day trip to Terra Mitica.
With help from the ex-pat community we have provided funding for a polytunnel, seeds and plants for the new vegetable garden, teaching the children to grow their own produce.
We also pay for other necessities such as shoes, school books, dentistry, reading glasses and after-school activities like football, rugby, music and dance. Again, things that we take for granted but all cost money. We'd like to thank our supporters who through donations, charity events, collection tins, etc. supply many things to make life as normal as possible for these unfortunate children.

The organisers have kindly allowed us a stand at the exhibition where we will have a tombola to raise funds for the Charity. So please come and say hello to us on the day as we like to meet up with our supporters when we possibly can.
