Happy 2nd birthday for SCAN animal shelter

Come and join the fun with a great

barbecue lunch

PUSSYCATS will be slaving over a hot grill to keep you fed and raise money for their own grub at the SCAN shelter's birthday party next Sunday (October 12).

It hardly seems like two years since their new home opened its doors in El Verger, but time flies when you're having fun chasing toy mice and climbing scratching posts, so the kitties are keen to celebrate with anyone who wants to come along.

SCAN branched out into dogs when it moved to the spacious and sumptuous shelter, so October 12 is also a great day for the pooch population as it meant those who had been cruelly dumped or otherwise fallen on hard times had a plush new home to go to.

All members and friends of SCAN are welcome to go along, with a donation for animal food and vet bills to cover the barbecue grub, which include vegetarian options and are served between 13.00 and 17.00.

You'll find the shelter on the industrial estate in El Verger opposite Lidl and the 'chicken shack', or BB's restaurant, behind Preyser and up the road.

Patchwork quilt raffle

Whilst at the barbecue, you will be able to buy a raffle ticket for a beautiful, warm and brightlycoloured patchwork quilt handmade by a talented artist on the SCAN volunteer team.

Measuring 1.22m x 1.32m (48" x 52"), it is an ideal foot-warmer for the winter or will give your lounge a splash of colour if you use it as a sofa throw.

If you cannot make it to the barbecue, raffle tickets can be bought for €2 from the SCAN office at the shelter, from the SCAN charity shop in El Verger, Julie's Corner Shop in Orba or QuickSave in Pedreguer, or you can get yours by phoning one of the organisers.

Only 250 tickets are available for purchase, so you will have to move quickly to grab one.
