Living Off Grid
Living ' off grid' means choosing to live disconnected from most provided services like electricity, gas, water and sewage generating your own power, hot water, growing your own organic food and producing no waste. I would like to start a project building low cost, eco-efficient timber framed homes built on 'terrenos rústicos' in Alicante. Anyone interested should contact Andy Watson at andyinfo@ yahoo.com or on 622 234 587. The project will need people with all kinds of knowledge and skills. Initially it will need people who understand planning regulations for building non-traditional housing in Valencia/Alicante. Off gridding is a new concept in Spain, you will be helping to set up something completely new and sustainable, a new way that lets you choose how you want to live.

Royal Naval Association - Costa Blanca North
The main event in the RNA calendar is the annual celebration of the life and times of Admiral Lord Horatio Nelson and this year our Trafalgar Night Dinner is being held on Friday, October 24 at the Oliva Nova Golf, Beach and Resort Hotel. By any measure, past or present, Lord Nelson was a remarkable man. He left grammar school at age 13 to become an ordinary seaman and, when only 20, was made Master and Commander of HMS Badger. Plagued all his life by malaria - and sea sickness - he lost the sight of one eye in a battle off Corsica and his right arm in another battle off Tenerife but continued to command fleets in various parts of the world. One of these was the Mediterranean Fleet which he once brought to anchor in the bay of Moraira. It is rumoured that his gunners honed their skills using Moraira`s castle for target practice. Our Guest of Honour this year is Chris Dovey, Chairman of the RNA. Chris served 16 years in the Royal Navy and was recently awarded the OBE for his 25 years of service to the Association and other community activities. Just prior to the Dinner there will be a brief dedication of our new Standard. There are a few places left so if you enjoy convivial company together with a ceremony which is traditional in the Royal Navy please call Sandra on 96 578 4250.
