Eddie's Final Whistle

-

SEASON 2014/15

2B Division

winner from the home side when David Rocha headed home their winner.

The win for 'Nastic' means that they climb to the top of the table, level on points with Hercules. Both sides have 14 points from their seven matches played. On the other hand, Alcoyano drop down the table and are now in15th place with just eight points dropping down six places after this defeat. Elche Ilicitano 2 - 0 Lleida Esportiu

The good news for Elche Ilicitano this week is that they were able to overcome Ontinyent in their regional Semi Final of the Federacions Cup. Having won the away leg 2-3 in Ontinyent the previous week, they drew the return leg 1-1 and will now face Castellon in a two legged Final with the first leg being played in Castellon. The winners of this tie will go through to the national part of the competition in which they could face any side in the whole of Spain who have managed to qualify to this level.

Back to the league, Elche continued in winning ways with a superb 2-0 home win against a Lleida side who have had a magnificent start to the season, but fell to their second defeat of the season at Elche.

A goal in each half, both from Rubio, gave the points to Elche Ilicitano and had they been a little more fortunate in front of goal, the result would have been much bigger. But the points are what matter in the league and these all went to the Elche Reserves who, with this win, climb five places to 12th place in the league table. The result for Lleida means that they drop two places to fourth place but still one point behind the teams above them in the table. Olimpic Xativa 3 - 1 UE Olot

Olimpic were unable to play this game at their home ground, La Murta in Xativa as their pitch is being relayed. It was expected that it would be ready for this match but the poor weather with lots of rain has delayed the work meaning the home side had to move the game to Alzira.

But the change of venue appears not to have done any harm to Olimpic as they recorded only their second win of the season and their first as the home side, even though they did not technically play at home.

The victory and the three points obtained always means they move out of the relegation zone where they have been for most of the season thanks to a poor start to the campaign. Olimpic move off the foot of the table and up to 14th place with 8 points from their seven matches played so far.

But the game did not go their way from the start. Despite laying on free coach travel for their supporters, it was not a great attendance and the went in at half time 0-1 down thanks to a goal from the visitors late in the first half.

But the came out for the second 45 minutes and dominated the match from that point onwards. Cortell squared things up just three minutes into the second half, Valiente put them ahead just two minutes later and when Vaquero scored their third from the penalty spot after 7 minutes, the points were safely in the bag for Olimpic, especially as the penalty also meant a red card for Olot player German who had committed the "crime".

This was a far improved performance from Olimpic, especially in the second half. If they are able to maintain this sort of form for the remainder of the season they should be in with a shout of a top four finish. However, as somebody said after the game, perhaps they should play in Alzira every week! Huracan Valencia 1 - 0 Reus Deportiu

A 36th minute goal from veteran striker Luismi Loro (playing in two different coloured boots) was enough to give Huracan Valencia all three points against a very good Reus Deportiu side who, especially in the final 20 minutes, probably did enough to take at least a share of the points.

Luismi Loro, a striker who has played for most of the Valencia sides at this level, got on the end of a low cross and slotted the ball into the net past Edgar in the Reus goal. But it was at the other end of the pitch where Paco in the home goal was superb making a number of spectacular saves to keep a "clean sheet" and give all three points to his side.

This was Huracan's second victory of the season, having won their opening match. Since then, four draws and a defeat means they are in 8th place with ten points from their seven matches played. Their opponents, Reus, stay in sixth place despite this defeat with 11 points. Eldense 0 - 1 Cornella

Eldense stay in 16th place after going down to this 0-1 defeat at the hands of division new boys, Cornella. The Catalan side won the game thanks to a 48th minute penalty which was awarded for a handball inside the Eldense penalty area.

Despite the scoreline, it was Eldense who were always in command of the game. They took the game to their rivals for most of the match and especially in the final 30 minutes when they pegged Cornella into their own area for much of the time. The non stop pressure appeared to have paid off as Eldense were awarded a penalty of their own, but Guardiola smashed it against the post and the visitors hung on for the three points which keeps them in seventh place with 11 points. Eldense are in 16th position with seven points. Villarreal B 1 - 4 Real Zaragoza B

The nightmare season continues for Villarreal B who remain stuck at the very foot of the table for another week following this thumping from another of the reserve sides in this group, Real Zaragoza B. If last week the rain put a stop to the possibility of them getting anything from their away game at Badalona (which was suspended with the scores at 0-0), at the weekend it was poor defending and terrible finishing which let the side managed by Paco Lopez (for the moment anyway) down.

But the game could not have started better for Villarreal. They played some excellent attacking football and went in 1-0 ahead thanks to a 10th minute penalty. But that all changed in the second 5 minutes as the visitors took full advantage of some woeful defending and scored four times without reply, although the home side did create (and missed) a good number of chances.

Some would say that on another (better) day for Villarreal, the game may well have ended4-4, but at the weekend it never looked likely to and, especially for their second half performance, the visitors were well worth the three points.

Villarreal B stay in 20th position with just five points although they do have a game in hand having played just six matches as opposed to those above them who have played seven. But the truth is that unless the side improves drastically, this is shaping up to be a bad season for the "mini yellow submarine" as they are affectionately called. Match day 8 October 5 Orihuela 0 - 0 Paterna Levante B 0 - 1 Torrevieja Ontinyent 2 - 1 Cullera Castellon 0 - 1 CD Acero Villarreal C 4 - 0 Jove Español Torre Levante 0 - 0 Novelda CD Utiel 0 - 1 UD Alzira Muro CF 3 - 0 La Nucia Ribarroja 0 - 0 Crevillente Atletico Saguntino1 - 1 Beniganim

Paterna stay top of the division on goal difference after their 0-0 draw away at Orihuela, who are a much improved side since the start of the season. The draw moves Orihuela up one place to sixth in the division whilst Paterna are joined at the top of the group by Alzira who took the points with a narrow 0-1 away win at Utiel. But Alzira had to suffer to take the points, especially after goal keeper Vicente Flor was red carded and a penalty awarded to Utiel. However, the reserve goal keeper for Alzira, Vicent Dolz, came on a proceeded to save the resulting penalty keeping his side ahead and ultimately taking the points.

Muro are also looking good again this season and move up six places to 3rd in the group after a comfortable 3-0 home win against La Nucia who drop down to 8th place. Crevillente continue their good start to the season and remain in fourth position after clinching a point away at Ribarroja in a scoreless match whilst Torre Levante stay one place below them although with the same amount of points (13) following their 0-0 draw at home to Novelda.

Torrevieja had a good away win with a 0-1 victory over a Levante B (or Atletico Levante as they are called this season officially). The win for 'Los Salineros' moves them up three places and level on points with their opponents with both sides on 11 points.

At the foot of the table we find Jove Español who were thumped 4-0 away at Villarreal C. The win moves Villarreal off the bottom of the table into 18th place leaving Jove to take their place in 21st spot.

They are joint bottom with the same amount of points as Utiel and Requena who this week took their turn at being "rested" (each week one team sits it out as there are 21 sides in this group this season).

Acero, in 16th position after their 0-1 away win at Castellon, have 8 points the same as Beniganim and Novelda above them.
