BBC seeks CBN for Brexit views
Britain views live broadcasts by Brexit reporter Adam Flemming as he interviewed Costa Blanca News reporter Irena Bodnarec and other expats expressing their concerns
With the clock ticking on the countdown to Brexit D-Day, a BBC film crew was in the resort over the weekend to speak with British expats on their thoughts, fears and hopes post 29 March 2019.
Normally based in Brussels, the home of the European Commission and Parliament, Brexit reporter for the BBC Adam Fleming and BBC News producer in Brussels Larissa Kennelly headed to the Costa Blanca for a day of coverage that was
aired on BBC News programmes and Radio 4 on Tuesday
hey spoke with holidaymakers at Alicante airport and also those here in Benidorm on their future travel plans and if they thought Brexit would affect where they go next year.
On Sunday they headed out to the Woodbridge Oval cricket ground in Albir, to what is essentially a little piece of England nestled on the Spanish costa, with the sound of leather on willow as teams played in their traditional whites. There they spoke at length to a number of club members, some of who have businesses here in Spain, including club chairman Kevin Laundon – pictured.
On Tuesday morning CBN’s reporter Irena Bodnarec was on the Levante promenade with Adam Fleming, who was posing a number of questions on the subject, which was broadcast live on BBC Breakfast.
At the end of the interview he asked the cameraman to pan in on her ‘ London themed” dress, which was adorned with red London buses, Big Ben, telephone boxes and other tourist attractions… very apt for a Brexit debate!
Undoubtedly, as the clock ticks there will be further reports and coverage not only from here, but from other enclaves were expats have set up and called home.
