Foreign bodies!

Right now there are almost 400 overseas players (out of a grand total of 581) currently registered with the 20 Premiership clubs… and there are another 400 scattered among the clubs in the Championship and Leagues 1 and 2.

And already some of their names are giving commentators and/or matchday reporters nightmares!

Here are just a few tonguetwisters which have already been mentioned several times:

Sokratis Papstathopoulos, Mohamed Eloyounnousst, Cagiar Soyuncu, Matteo Guendouzi, Cheikou Kouyare, Florent Hadergjonas, Andriy Yarmolenko, Yoshinora Muto, Leander Dendoncker and Adama Diahaby.

We can add these to the list as well… Xherden Shiqirri, Diogo Dazot, Martin Dubravka, Ki Sung Yueng, Salomoin Rondon, Yannik Vestergaard, Gerard Deulofeu, Marc Navarro, Joao Moutinho, Lukasz Fabianski, Aleksandar Mitrovic, Maxine Le Marchand, Mateo Kovacic, Victor Camarasa, Matej Vydra, Riyad Mahrez, Filip Benkovic and Vicente Guaita, Ramadan Sobhi.

And we must not forget these easy ones: Fabinho, Claudio Gomez, Fred, Ken Sema, Willy Boly, Diogo Jota, Carlos Anchez, Jonas Lossi, Issa Diop, Naby Kieta, Yerry Mina, Lucas Perez, Leon Balogun and Jean Michel Seri.

For the record, Manchester United’s first team squad currently includes 25 overseas-born players. Manchester City have 23 foreigners in their squad, Chelsea and Liverpool both have 22, Arsenal have 21 and Tottenham Hotspur a mere 18.
