Postal service resumed for some Calpe residents

Town hall announces special delivery

CALPE council has announced that the multi-domiciliary concentrated mailboxes in the Cucarres, Marisol Park, Los Almendros and Maryvilla urbanisations are ready for use, and residents in those areas can now request them.

The new mailboxes will ensure the distribution of postal mail after Correos announced the interruption of home doorto-door delivery service in urbanisations which did not have concentrated mailboxes or were not conveniently ordered under revised postal laws.

The owners of houses in these developments may request the rental of a mailbox in the citizen assistance office (OAC) on the ground floor of the town hall. For this, they must sign a responsibility declaration, in addition to presenting documentation proving ownership of the property or the receipt for their property tax.

Although in principle the installation of mailboxes is an issue that is the responsibility of residents, the council considered it appropriate to carry out the scheme. They were aware of the difficulties that this entailed for residents of the urbanisations, many of whom are foreigners and are absent for long periods of the year. This was in addition to the large volume of mailboxes that were required to be installed.

The fee is €120 which will be the rental cost for 15 years.
