Fast-paced victory for La Vila
Club La Vila Rugby defeated Ampo Ordizia on their own home ground in Villajoyosa last weekend with a score of 31-31.
The local team managed to maintain their play with a strong defence in this ninth league match.
In support of the campaign against gender violence, the two teams together with the referees took to the centre of the field before the game showing a banner against gender violence, designed by Villajoyosa town hall which was installed on the premises a year ago.
Once the match started, the first half went well with a try from Pichler and great play from Huxford and Lescano helping the score. At half time, the score was 10-14 in favour of the visiting team.
The second half brought tries from Calatayud and again from Gastón Pichler. Although Ordizia played well, La Vila had done their homework with heir mental as well as physical control and they dominated the 80 minutes. The match win was sealed with the pick and go try by Paco Martínez.
In spite of numerous injuries with key players not able to play La Vila is resisting with a minimum number of players on the team demonstrating the possibility of overcoming challenges.
La Vila have been preparing their next match against second placed Silverstorm El Salvador, this weekend on Sunday, December 2 at the Pepe Rojo stadium in Valladolid.
