CHRISTMAS is coming, or has already arrived in many towns that have 'switched-on' their seasonal lights and Christmas fairs.

Benidorm was one of the first to 'kick-off' on Saturday evening with the mayor and fiesta queens officially opening the 'Plaza de Navidad' or Christmas Square under the town hall.

The opening ceremony concluded with a fabulous firework display and the square was packed with families who then went on to enjoy some of the many fairground style rides which will be in place until January 6.

The Christmas square includes an air ice rink with a 30 minute session costing €5 plus another euro to hire a pair gloves (which are obligatory).

Other town will be hosting similar fairs and certainly Christmas lights but will be waiting until next week to put them on.

Christmas with the animals!

Terra Natura Wildlife Park in Benidorm have unveiled their Christmas programme, which started last week and will run until January 6 – Three Kings Day.

Each Saturday the keepers will deliver the food in Christmas boxes and there will be festive themed events such a puppet show and workshop at the Christmas Factory in the Europe zone.

Magical goblins will be dotted around the park and children will be able to post their letters to Santa up until December 26 for their wishes from the Three Kings.

On December 28, 29 and 30, there will be a live interacive show ‘X-MAS Rock’ at the amphitheatre in the Asia section and additionally on Saturday 29, the Ice Fairy will visit the park.

Entrance during the Christmas period is €19.
