Marina Alta Golf

-

First game of the new year.

On Monday January 7, 2019, Marina Alta Golf Society held their first game of the year at the Oliva Nova golf course. With the course closed over Xmas and New Year’s day (Mondays being the normal society playing days) and with many members still away on their travels, a reduced field took to the course on a bright and warm morning. Did I say warm!

A slight delay with the first tee time was recorded due to frost on some of the greens, I’m sure some of our Northern players will find that a laugh.

I’m sure that for some members some thoughts were present that this game was going to be the start of their new game of golf, a new year with memories of errors and lost balls long forgotten.

And who says that positive thinking does not work. Step up to the plate Paul Fraser.

Paul walked away with first place with a very impressive 41 points playing of a 24 handicap. Paul said it was one of those days, everything went in.

In second place with 35 points was David Reid playing off a 15 handicap,

There were no NTP prizes today but we did have 2 x two’s.

On hole 11 Peter Gardiner took the prize as did David Reid on hole 16.

But the star of the day was Paul Fraser who scored a hole in one on hole 16, I am informed this is his second hole in one and I hope the drinks were flowing when they arrived at the bar later. Well done Paul.

The Marina Alta Golf society plays at Oliva Nova every Monday and is open to new members, for details of playing as a guest or joining the society please contact Denis McVeigh at mcveigh1 @hotmail.com or tel 638 401 170 or Alan Tissington at alantissingtom@gmail.com or call 656 831 893
