GUARDIA Civil are investigating the death of a woman who was found semi-naked near the front door of her apartment block in Torrevieja on Sunday morning.

According to state news agency EFE, officers believe the 39 year old fell down the communal staircase at the building in Calle Cáritas, which stands on the edge of the Casa Grande industrial estate, close to Ronda Ricardo Lafuente Aguado.

EFE reported that although Guardia Civil investigators are waiting for the results of an autopsy, they have ‘initially ruled out the participation of anyone else in the incident’.

They noted that the woman of Moroccan nationality appeared to have died from the injuries she received when she fell down the stairs.

Her body was found at around 09.00 by a youngster who was taking his dog out for a walk.

According to regional Spanish newspaper Diario Informacion, the woman may have been drunk when the accident occurred.

They reported that security cameras in the building recorded the incident and the woman appeared to have tumbled down the stairs due to her condition.

She had then smashed her head as she fell.

As Costa Blanca News went to press the Guardia Civil confirmed that the cameras had picked up the woman ‘walking round the apartment block, apparently in a drunken state’.

She had taken off her trousers and pants to urinate in the garage area around 01.20 and had then forgotten to put her clothes back on, they noted.

The cameras then showed how she fell down the stairs as she went up to the first floor.
