Flying for charity

-

Javea Green Bowls Captain flies through the air! On Sunday our Captain, Jenny Rich, fulfilled her mission to free fall from 13,000 feet for her Charity, Help of Denia. She was well supported by some Javea Members who travelled with her on Saturday to Benicassim, a town just a few miles north of Valencia. The preparation for the jump was the usual mix of food and drink, followed by an early night!

On Sunday Jenny was a little apprehensive, but with the sun shining and good luck messages “pinging” to her phone every few minutes, she set off to the aerodrome.

After being tightly strapped into a safety harness, she boarded the plane and waved enthusiastically to her followers. The plane took about 10 minutes to climb to 13,000 feet, but then a little tiny dot became visible against the blue sky and Jenny was on her way. After about a minute the parachute opened and Jenny came into clear view and sailed down to make a safe and successful landing on the beach. Jill Nobbs immediately messaged Jennys´ family in the UK saying “the eagle has landed safely”.

Jenny was proud of her achievement and said she enjoyed it so much she wished she could get straight back on the plane and do it again!

Dont´ forget Jenny paid for this experience herself and just hoped that her bowling friends would show their support by donating to her Help of Denia fund raising effort. If you have already done so then “thank you”, if you havent´ it is not too late, just see someone at the bar at Javea Green as soon as possible.
