ARC at the Pet Idol Competition

-

On Friday and Saturday ,April 5 and 6, volunteers from ARC managed the Pet Idol Competition stand at the Homes, Gardens, and Lifestyle Show in Altea. This, as always, was organised to perfection by Gina Marks and was a super couple of days well attended by members of the public. The Pet Idol competition, which was sponsored by Erica - Rose Housekeeping & Property Services, Calpe, had three categories, Dogs, Cats and Others, the latter being anything from a guinea pig to a pet elephant!

However, this year there were two horses, a goat, a donkey, a parrot and a cockatoo plus 60 dogs and 14 cats all entered by their owners. Photos of the entries were displayed on a wall and voted on by the public, a prize was awarded to the pet with the most votes in each category. Mimi won the ‘Dog’ category, Neko won the ‘Cat’ category and Pablo the donkey won the ‘Other’ category.

Many people kindly donated to the ARC animal charity, which is based in Jalon and covers the whole of the Jalon Valley rescuing all animals in the valley that are abandoned, lost and ill-treated, plus supporting the feral cat colonies. We are very grateful for your support as all funds raised are used to pay our vet’s and food bills, every cent raised counts.

Thanks must also go to the volunteers who helped at the event, Gemma and Max from Telitec, Pauline from AKIRA animal charity, Benissa and Lena, one of ARC’s volunteers. Your help was much appreciated.

Our next event is a ‘bagpacking day’ at Iceland, Benissa on April 18, so please come along and support the charity when you are doing you Easter shopping.
