Teulada-Moraira Fishing Club

Our fifth match of the summer league was fished on section C of the Rio Jucar. If you read last week’s report, you may remember that there were many international anglers practicing for the Iberian Masters on the river. That competition was held on Friday, Saturday and Sunday of last weekend. Due to the amount of bait which some one hundred and fifty professional anglers would introduce into the water over a three day period, we were sceptical as to whether there would be any hungry fish about. However, thirteen members decided to fish the match.

With the draw having taken place and tackle assembled, the match began at 9.45 a.m. in very pleasant sunshine with only a slight breeze and quickly rising temperatures.

Our worst fears seemed to be coming true when, after over an hour, not a single fish had been landed. Jeff Richards was the first to land a fish but it was to be his only catch of the day. Matters didn’t improve for most of us with just the occasional fish being caught by a few members, but most ended the day without a single bite. When the call came at 2.45 p.m. to “stop fishing”, only five anglers had caught at all, leaving eight empty nets. Truly, the least successful day in the history of the club.

4th Jason Lawson (Arrows) Peg 13(C29) 1 fish 1.28 kilos 5th Dave Barber (Ex Sun Bed Man) Peg 2 (C3) 1 fish, Did not weigh in In total, only 6 carp were caught for a total weight of 8.90 kilos.

We are a very friendly club and are always happy to welcome new members. Anyone without match fishing experience will be given assistance and advice from our more experienced members.
