A RESIDENT of Orihuela Costa got more than he bargained for when he went on a date with a woman he only knew through friends they had in common on a well-known social network.

A Guardia Civil spokesman explained that this 34-year-old Spaniard ended up being stabbed in the ribs and robbed of his cash and his mobile phone after she turned up with two other men.

The injury was serious enough to require surgery, he noted.

Officers based in Pilar de la Horadada then started investigating another robbery, also in Orihuela Costa but this time at a house.

The assailants threatened and punched the victim, inflicting minor injuries to the 21year-old Spaniard, and stole a portable computer, a videogame console and cash, amongst other items.

After making numerous urgent enquiries in order to prevent further violent crimes by these people, the suspects were identified as a woman aged 37 and two men, 34 and 37, who were arrested in Las Torres de Cotillas (Murcia), where they all lived.

They are all accused of two robberies with violence and intimidation.

The woman also faces a road safety offence as when she was arrested she was driving even though she had been banned for having lost all the points on her licence.

The two men were charged and released until the trial after appearing at the duty court in Molina de Segura (Murcia) but the investigating court in Orihuela ruled that the woman be jailed on remand, according to the spokesman.
