San Vicent Fiestas 2019

This weekend three local towns on the Costa Blanca – La Nucia, Alfaz del Pi and Altea will join together to celebrate the fiesta of Sant Vicent at the Ermita del Captivador in La Nucia, which takes place every year the weekend after Easter.

Events officially begin this evening, with a new concept, Festival SantviFext, a music competitio­n, with amateur groups and musicians invited to take part from midnight onwards.

There will be local dishes cooked each day plus bar in the main fiesta tent and all proceeds will go towards the August fiesta.

On in the morning there will be a children’s Pilota Valenciana tournament between La Nucia and Alfaz. In the afternoon there will be an exhibition of pilota from the La Nucia team and at 6pm, some traditiona­l dancing from the dance schools of Altea and La Nucia.

Once again, from midnight onwards amateur musicians are invited to take part in the SantviFest competitio­n.

the annual pedestrian race from Sant Vicent to La Nucia traditiona­lly takes place but has been suspended this year as it coincides with the National Spanish elections. However, throughout the weekend there will be guided tours of the CEM Captivador and new hostel.

There will be numerous activities, games, races and plenty of eating, drinking and music to party the nights away culminatin­g with a pilgrimage and mass on to mark the day of Sant Vicent, which will be attended by the three mayors, followed by a giant paella (must have reservatio­n) and music and dance during all the afternoon.

The activities are all free and everyone is invited to attend.
