Fenton has a good start to the season

-

Fenton Seabright is a young British boy who lives on the Costa Blanca, for the past couple of years he spends the motorcycling season flying to the UK on weekends to compete in races. Last year he was chosen to ride in the British Talent Cup and did very well before an unfortunate accident put him out of action for most of the season.

This year Fenton has once again been chosen to compete in the British Talent Cup, which takes place mainly in the UK, and is sponsored entirely by Dorna (who organises the MotoGP circuit).

Fenton is also participating in the FIM CEV European Talent Cup (ETC) Companionship, riding a moto3 250cc Honda for Wilson Racing, a UK team.

The ETC season started at Estoril this past weekend, on arrival the weather was horrendous, within the first free practice session, Fenton rode in the equivalent of all four season, he even had hail and snow, it was unbelievable!

The weather madness continued throughout the qualifying sessions, at one time it was hot and sunny on one side of the track, and on the other side it was raining! The off course caused major issues with trying to select the right tyre to use.

Being a large class of over 60 riders, the category was split in two and the top 19 riders took the grid positions. Fenton came in second on the grid, which was a huge accomplishment as he was hoping for a top 15.

Race One was exciting from start to finish and the rain came in to play too. Fenton lead the race and the two top riders exchanged position throughout the 20 laps of the 4.1km circuit. On the final two corners, Fenton took the lead and there was a battle to the finish line as the second rider was also 8kg lighter then Fenton (which is a huge amount on this type of bike). As they both crossed the finishing line, fighting for first place, the bikes touched and Fenton skidded past the line and most of the length of pit lane on his bottom. He ended up collecting a second place and being the first Briton to lead a FIM CEV race and get a podium.

The next day it was Race Two and the weather was the same, Fenton had a great start but started having a few technical issues due to the weather, so decided it was better to collect some points and get the bike across the line which he did. Bringing home an extremely satisfying 10th place.

This puts Fenton third in the championship and this weekend his team travels to Valencia’s circuit for the second round of the ETC.

Anyone wishing to invest in the future of Fenton, there is still plenty of room on his motorbike and suit for advertising.

The third FIM CEV European Talent Cup ( ETC) round is at Cataluña on the weekend of June 8/9.
