U3A Vall Del Pop: Easter Bonnet Parade
On Thursday April 4the U3A Vall del Pop themed their General Assembly with an Easter Bonnet parade. Members had been asked, at the previous meeting, to prepare their Easter bonnets and hats, for the men, as this was our nearest meeting to Easter.
Eighteen members had spent the time, and effort to find chicks, eggs, rabbits and even the odd duck and lamb as well as flowers and feathers to prepare their creations. Several men had been given their own creation, or the first practice of their wives or partners in the preparation of their bonnets.
Members were encouraged to wear their creations throughout the General Assembly and then to parade the hall to allow all members to see the creations and to make their selections – with the two mystery judges taking a much closer interest in deciding their top ten.
We had all sorts to judge – bright yellows, orange, shocking pink and even a decorated flat cap, so choose your favourite from the lineup.
The mystery judges decided that the best bonnet had been created by Sonia Higginson with the best man’s hat, probably also created by Sonia, modelled by her husband Graham. A nice bright and fun display to enliven the meeting.
A raffle by the Goodwill Charity team raised euro 200 – which will be donated later in the year to a charity nominated and selected by the members.
