Easter Bonnet parade

- By Irena Bodnarec

An afternoon of cakes, eggs, music and dance was organised by Laura and Harold Luesley – residents of the Ciudad Patricia retirement complex in Benidorm on Easter Monday.

To add to the fun and excitement, there was also an Easter Bonnet parade, with prizes for the best three ladies and what a task it was to choose from the magnificent variety on show, with everyone going to great lengths creativity wise.

Live music and entertainment were provided by ‘Don’t Ask’, who kept the dance floor full to capacity throughout the afternoon.

A scrumptious array of cakes, chocolates and eggs were enjoyed by all in between the judging of the bonnets.

First prize went to Sheila Morris with her incredible nesting hen and chic’s, runner up was Gwynth, with her nest of chic’s and colourful feathers and third place went to Evelyn Small for her garden of flowers.

For the effort and novelty factor, two gentlemen were also awarded a prize each. First place to Eddie Critchley for his Australian inspired hat, with chocolate eggs replacing the hanging corks and runner up was Tony Page, with a bathtubs worth of yellow rubber ducks secured to his hat!

It was a great afternoon which helped everyone to forget about the miserable weather and definitely enjoyed and appreciated by all those that attended.

Laura also presented a chocolate egg to all the ladies in attendance and even the gentleman ended up with one too.
