Safer paths and stunning views
Coastline coves are now 'one step away' from Benitachell town centre
THE COVES of Testos, Llebeig and Moraig, are now 'one step away' from the urban centre of Benitachell.
The town hall has added a new path to the network of trails, and has bought to life an old desire to unite the historic centre and the spectacular cliffs of Testos, Llebeig and Moraig.
The project was subsidised 65% by the regional tourism department, and had a total budget of €27,643. The grant helped to adapt the spectacular route that leads to the paradise cove of Testos, with a safer path for those who wish to access it.
“Benitachell has a great cultural and environmental heritage that we want to value by improving connectivity and creating a network of trails that allow the entire coastline to be travelled from north to south, with the spectacular scenery of its cliffs,” said Victor Bisquert, the councillor for tourism.
In addition, the route will be marked with information panels and an awareness campaign will be carried out to prevent the accumulation of rubbish in the cove. “We want a more accessible but cleaner cove”, Bisquert said.
In 2018, a grant of €39,987 from the Valencia tourism department helped to connect the route of the Serp with the Llebeig and Moraig coves, which in turn link to the cliff path and fishermen's houses. In this way, the town centre and the coast are now connected by nine kilometres of paths.
The creation of the path meets one of the objectives of the new general plan, which provides for the connection of the landscape and natural enclaves considered to be a value to the town.
