Alfaz Fantasy Football League

-

There was one Monday night game and a full Premier League at the weekend which gave the Alfaz Fantasy Football League 31 goals (the highest so far this season), three clean sheets, 35 yellow cards and one red one which was Brighton's Andone, who received a straight red from referee Kevin Friend for a vicious tackle on Southampton's promising young fullback Valery.

There is no doubt the girls are giving the lads a good run for their money as five of them are in the top nine of this season's Fantasy League.

Jayne's team, Up the Dale, is one of them and she is sharing the top spot with Macca's Albir Villains. Both teams have a 2-point advantage over last week's leaders Tony Red's Miles Platting Swifts and Stephen's Vote for Pedro.

At the other end of the table Len's Prove You are the Best have been joined by Mark's Tory Boys United who are just four points ahead.

In our Mark Carte Ladies’ Section, Jayne's team Up the Dale have started the season like a house on fire and at the moment they have a 3-point lead at the top over Catherine's Pompey Hammers, who were this week’s top scorers, with a tally of 62 points, thanks to a little help from Liverpool's Mo Salah who was this week’s top Fantasy player with 15 points to his name.

Isobel's team The Bluebells are in third spot followed by Pauline's Vodka Army and Elaine's Barbra's XI who both finished in the top three of this section last season. We have a new team at the bottom with Dannielle's We are all Boro Arn’t We trailing two teams Liz's Leia's Yum Yums and Kyle's All Stars.

We have had three different teams at the top of our Junior League so far and this week it's young Ollie's Team Olly 11 turn who have moved 2 points clear of Harley's Ginger Ninja.

Luca's Lucky Red F.C. are third while last week’s frontrunner More Than a Game have slipped down to fifth.

Olly's other team he shares with Jim is really struggling at the bottom and they are already beginning to be cut adrift as they are 7 points behind Romeo's team My Dad Supports Liverpool.

With over 30 goals being scored, there was plenty of points to be had in our Across the Costa's Golden Boot League.

Stephen's team Vote for Pedro scored 41 points that took them right to the summit by replacing Jayne's Up the Dale.

Tony Red's Miles Platting Swifts are still flying around the summit and are only 6 points behind the leaders in third place.

Catherine's Pompey Hammers are well in contention in fourth place along with Macca's Albir Villains (fifth). Down at the foot of the table Olly and Jim's team have still to get off the Mark with a big fat zero score. Two teams are 5 points above them and they are Terry's Could This be the Year and Kyle's All Stars.

Top player in this section is Manchester City's flying winger Raheem Sterling with 35 points, 10 points more than Norwich's Finnish Striker Pukki.

Macca's Albir Villains have held on to the top spot of our Champion of Champions League for the second week running by keeping Pauline's Vodka Army at bay by 5 points.

Gary's Hammered Again make up the top three. Down in the basement Eric's City Slickers have swapped places with his grandson's team Power Blueboys and are left in the bottom spot 4 points away from the Blueboys.

Two more teams will go into our monthly wine draw and they are Catherine's Pompey Hammers who top scored with 62 points and our lowest scoring team Brian's Bernie's Finest who only managed 4 points.

Manager of the month for August has been kindly sponsored by Linda at the Bar Tapas which is situated right on the front in Albir and provide a super international menu as well as serving up some tasty tapas.

With one week to go, two teams are joint top - Albir Villains and Up the Dale and two teams are also joint second, Miles Platting Swifts and Vote for Pedro.

Pompey Hammers are also in with a chance of winning this excellent meal for two at the Bar Tapas.
