Find out more about the Oliva U3A

-

The U3A is for people no longer in full time employment, but who wish to carry on learning through various physical, academic and fun activities. In other words, you may no longer be working but want to keep the body and mind active.

The Oliva U3A was established 2007 with just a handful of founder members sitting around a kitchen table. Now we have nearly 600 members and over 40 different groups and activities, for example:

Jovial pub quiz with prizes at Bar Pelut on January 13 or our Latin Dancing group which is taught by Belarusian champions who teach at a high level but are also very supportive (Thursdays 5-6pm at Casal Jove)

There are various ways you can find out more about the Oliva U3A:

■ Email Mick Goy, President, on mickgoy1@gmail.com

■ Market days (usually Friday), you will find Angela or Sue in the café on the side terrace of the Municipal Market from 11am-noon. Look out for the U3A poster on the table. Prospective and existing members are welcome to come along to this informal friendly meeting to find out about the latest groups and activities.

■ Coffee and Chat: Tuesdays from 11am-noon at El Galano café. Here you can meet Pauline and Mary, two members who can answer questions and talk about what being a member is like - or you can just chat about Oliva’s glorious weather over a coffee

■ Monthly General Meeting: Held on the fourth Thursday morning of each month from 10.30am in the Polivalent or in the Library opposite.

We have a Meet & Greet team who will answer any questions and introduce you to other members. We generally have a speaker that starts at 11am, and although you are welcome to stay, please do not feel obliged.

To find out where the meeting is or who the speaker is, please email the Vice President, David Wynne on dwynne2016@gmail.com
