Alfaz Fantasy Football League

-

Week 19 It was another blockbuster week in the Alfaz Fantasy Football League when the 17 F.A.Cup ties involving Premier League clubs, plus a full Premier League programme gave the A.F.F.L. 73 goals, 15 clean sheets, 46 yellow cards and 3 red ones.

The players who went for an early bath were Crystal Palace's Milivojovic and two players from the much improved Watford Kabasele and Pereyra.

The average score was not as high as last week but is was commendable 37 points

.As expected a lot of Premier League managers in the F.A.Cup made a raft of changes after a hectic festive schedule but it didn't stop Chris's Promotion Again from securing the number one spot of the A.F.F.L. for the 8th week running.

Wade's Alli Barber did manage to close the gap on the leaders to only 12 points while Kapur's Napali Eleven changed places with Terry's team Hannakins and are now in 3rd place.

At the opposite end of the table, Luna's Liver Birds have landed on the bottom spot for the first tme this season and now trail The Strikers by 17 points.

Harley's team Ginger Ninjar had their advantage at the top of our Junior League slashed to only 10 points by Luca's Lucky Red F.C.

Down at the foot of the table, Romeo's team My Dad Supports Liverpool have moved a little closer to Gian's Fleetpool but the gap is still a massive 65 points.

In our Mark Carter Ladies section Annette's Hairnette have been at the summit for the last 7 weeks but they are coming under pressure from Debbie's Foxy Filberts, who are now only 8 points away.

Elaine's Dizzy Blonde remain in 3rd place while the ever dangerous Pauline's Vodka Army are lurking in 4th spot.

Relegation threatened Lyn's Handbrake City have moved to within 5 points of Gil's Kippax, and are beginning to show signs of recovery at the bottom.

There is a ding dong battle going on at the top of our Across the Costa's Golden Boot League between Chris's Promotion Again and Martin's Marauders, at the moment the Marauders have fragile 2 point lead over Chris's team, while Henry's Old Salfordians are waiting patiently in 3rd place for any slip ups by the leaders.

Well if it's tight at the top the same can be said at the other end of the table, where Kyle's All Stars are just 1 point behind Eric's team, The Young Ones. Kim's Ginger United are also in the mix 3 points above the bottom place.

Wade's Alli Barber are going from strength to strength at the top of our Champion of Champions League as they have opened up a massive 51 point gap over former leaders Martin's Marauders.

There is no change at the bottom with Luna's Liver Birds still trailing Gil's Kippax by a deficit of 30 points.

The first two teams going into our monthly wine draw for

January are our top scoring team which was Grahem's Laurel and Vardy who bagged 71 points courtesy of his 2 defenders Leicester City's Ben Chilwell and West Ham's Declan Rice who both scored 15 points.

The other team to join them is our lowest scoring team which was Bob's team The Strikers who didn't live up to their name with a tally of 10 points.

Grahem's team Laurel and Vardy were quick of the mark in our manager of the month for January which is being kindly sponsored Jordi at the Kasbrane Bar in Albir who provide a super international menu at reasonable prices and they also show all the top sporting events.

Grahem's team have taken an early 3 point lead over King Carrakop 023 at the top while Lyndy Lou's Boys are in the reckoning along with three teams Vina's City Link, Andrew's Big Timers and Eric's team The Young Ones.

At the time of going to press I have not had time to collate all the points for our F.A.Cup league and K.O.Cup competition because of the Arsenal v Leeds game, but a can tell that two of the favourites for the K.O. Cup have made it through, last year’s winners Martin's Marauders and Alli Barber by seeing off Up the Dale and Joe Reid Senior 1967.

By the time you read this the results of our K.O. Cup and the F.A. Cup league will be up on our website and I will report on them next week.
