Marina Alta Golf Society

-

The Marina Alta Golf Society fielded 12 members and three guests for their singles stroke play game at Oliva Nova on Monday , February 3.

The course is till recovering from Storm Gloria and in places trees blown down but now cut up and awaiting collection were still evident, however that little thing was not going to spoil the players game and overall the club’s ground crew had done a tremendous job in clearing up the course.

The weather was kind to the players with warm sunshine (19-20C and little wind and for most of the players the kind of day where once again you started off playing in winter long trousers but by the 3rd hole were wishing you had worn your shorts.

Making the most of the conditions saw member Keith Sinden take first place with a net 71 and playing off a 21 handicap.

Second place went to Society Capt. Peter Gardiner now fully recovered from his head’s sudden meeting with the floor last week and the visit to the Denia hospital that followed. He scored a net 77 off a 22 handicap.

Third place went to Calpe newest cycling enthusiast, Clark Bowie with a net 78 off a 24 handicap, I hope he remembered to remove his cycle leg clips when he arrived at the Club!.

There were no Two’s recorded and the NTP results are: guest Hugh Bishop on hole 3, well done Hugh, in 2 shots on hole 5 was Andrew Brown who also took the prize on hole 16, well done Andrew.

The Marina Alta Golf Society plays every Monday at the Oliva Nova course and is open to welcoming new members or guests interested in playing with the Society and becoming members in due course.
