Alfaz Fantasy Football League

-

Week 23

There was an abundance of goals and action in the 1 F.A. Cup tie and the 11 Premier League games last week which provided the Alfaz Fantasy Football League with 30 goals, 10 clean sheets, 46 yellow cards and three red ones which were Bournemouth's Lerma, Everton's Delph and Manchester City's Zinchenko who became the 36th player to be sent off this season in the Premier League. There was also a couple of penalties and two own goals which gave the fans plenty of talking points over the weekend.

Wade's team Alli Barbar held on to the top spot of the A.F.F.L. for the 2nd week running and at the same time increased their lead over 2nd placed Chris's Promotion Again to 21 points. Hannakins and Napali Eleven remain in 3rd and 4th place while Simon's team Wolves will Tweet U moved up three places to 5th. At the other end of the table, there is no respite for Bob's team The Strikers who are 47 points away from Gil's Kippax.

In our Junior League Harley's Ginger Ninjar have opened up a gap of 14 points over Lucky Red F.C. while down at the foot of the table, Romeo's team My Dad Supports Liverpool are slowly but surely closing the gap on the team above them Boden Boys which is now only 25 points.

Debbie's Foxy Filberts are really pushing on in our Mark Carter Ladies League as they have extended their advantage at at the summit to a formidable 71 points over newcomers to the top three, Liz's Cookies Crew 61;

The Bluebells & Team Tapas are in joint 3rd place. Former leaders of this section Hairnette have dropped out of the running and are now in 8th position, 97 points behind the Foxes. Down at the opposite end of the table, our usual suspects are there with Gil's Kippax trailing Lyn's Handbrake City by 15 points.

Catherine's Pompey Hammers became the 10th side to take charge of our Across the Costa's Golden Boot League when they took over from Promotion Again & Martin's Marauders who were joint top last week. Currently they have a 6point cushion over the former front-runners. Peter's team We 8 Codheads are nicely placed in 3rd spot. Mark's Tory Boys United are still bottom of this Section trailing a team not living up to their name The Strikers by just 8 points.

Our Champion of Champions League is a bit like the Premier League as Wade's Alli Barber have an unassailable 126 point advantage over Martin's Marauders. I think we could say Game Over. Gil's Kippax only picked up one point which enabled Luna's Liver Birds to climb above them and leave them in the bottom spot.

Tom's team Quantrill's Raiders benefitted from Liverpool's two games going into the mix by clocking up this week’s top score of 93 points and along with John's team Killocks XI who got the lowest score of minus 4, thanks to 3 Manchester City Players Walker (-2), Zinchenko (-5) and Sterling (-1) all with minus scores go into our Monthly Wine Draw.

Manager of the Month for

February is being kindly sponsored by the Brew Rock in Albir, who provide a super international menu and with an excellent view, it makes it a great place to eat out. The early contenders for this excellent meal for two are Tommy's Quantrill's Raiders who have taken a 10point lead over Liverpool 94. Chips Choice, Kyle's All Stars and Kath's Bingo Babes are all in with a chance of winning this super meal for 2 at the Brew Rock.

After the 4th round of the F.A. Cup we have new leaders at the top of our F.A. Cup League with Mark's team Inter Rubber taking a single 1-point lead over Kevin's Mason United. Both managers are Manchester United supporters so good run in the Cup for United will see these two teams fighting it out at the summit.

Down at the foot of the table, Old Salfordians have only gained 1 point which is one less than Dyson D.C.11.

Eight teams have made it through to the next round of our K.O. Cup Competition and they are Hannakins, As Terribles, Winners, and Come on you Cockers, Penfold Puffins (last Lady Manager). Ginger Ninja (last Junior Manager) and the 2 Favourites Ally Barber and Promotion Again. The draw for the quarter finals will soon be up on our website which is www.alfazffl.com

There is a winter break coming up in the next couple of weeks, so points will be hard to come with the fixtures being staggered. So with all the tired footballers being rested, so let’s hope they all come back raring to go.
