Alcalalí almond blossom festival continues

The very popular festival to celebrate the blossoming of the almond trees continues in the village of Alcalalí in the Jalón Valley for the next two weeks.

The programme lasts until the end of February.

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 8

10.00: Escorted walk among almond trees in bloom. Route of 6 km, low difficulty, but not suitable for pushchairs. (pictured below)

Departure from the Plaça de l’Ajuntament

12.00: Presentati­on of “Xylella fastidiosa” demonstrat­ing the problems faced by the almond tree bacteria. Departure from the Plaça de l’Ajuntament

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 9

10.00: Escorted walk among almond trees in bloom. Departure from the Plaça de l’Ajuntament.

12.00: Gymkhana. Departure from the Plaça de l’Ajuntament

18.00: Theatre performed by the group “Valentes i Positives” all of whom have experience­d cancer, with “El Balneari” and “Sopar de rei”, in Edifici Multiusos (C/ Xiprers, 1). A donation of €5 is requested.

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 15

08.30: Hike “Penya de la Talaia”. Route of 13 km, mediumhigh difficulty. Departure from the Plaça de l’Ajuntament.

Romany, of the Restaurant­e Pont Sec of Dénia and the ice cream maker Óscar Palacios from Palacio Heladeros Artesanos of Pedreguer.

13.00: Cooking workshop: sweets with Alcalalí almonds, aimed towards children, in the Plaça de l’Ajuntament.
