Abbey Angling

This week’s match was on the river Segura at Murcia for the 6th round of the Abbey Angling cup fished on February 11.

There was a better turn out than last week ,with the weather cool but dry, and the river has dropped down a foot and is back to its normal level with a light flow.

Again the high number pegs towards the Crystal Bridge fished the best and produced the top weights, with Dave Hutchinson in top spot with 9.680kgs, in second place was Richard King with 7.660kgs and coming in third was Nick Bastock with 6.520kgs

1st Dave Hutchinson with 9.680kgs

3rd Nick Bastock with 6.520kgs

All fishing the feeder using corn pellet or bread

The winners of the pairs match with a combined weight of 12.600kgs was Dave Hutchinson and Mick Hill

We were at the El Bosquet Complex for the 6th round of the Winter Championship on the February 12

Once again the weather was kind to us, with everyone stripping off layers as the sun came out and the temperatures rose.

The match was almost won at the draw, with Lennie Bolton pulling peg one and Neil McBirnie on peg two, with these two first class anglers on the top pegs, the outcome was inevitable.

Lennie took top spot with 27.600kgs, and Neil McBirnie in second place with 21.550kgs, coming in third was Nick Bastock (for the second time this week) on peg 14 on the Oblong with 16.960kgs. They were all fishing the pole using bread, maggots or pellets
