Murky conditions don’t stop La Vila

A LIGHT layer of fog did not prevent La Vila rugby club from gaining another win on home turf last weekend, as they won 49-8 against CN Poble Nou on a day more in line with the winter season.

Both the blues and whites and the Catalan team offered an attractive and clean match which was enjoyed by the fans who attended.

The players of La Vila did not disappoint, with a total of six tries from Fernando Díaz and Tomás Etcheverry (with two each), Gonzalo Sabadín and Martín Visuara. Guillem Carrión and Leo Bouin also joined the list of scorers. The front line were successful in touch throws, with some very timely intercepti­ons, as well as in the pressure and thrust of the melee.

In the second half, the Catalans were more active and wanting to get points on the scoreboard.

They only managed a total of 8 points though in a well fought match by La Vila.

The blues and whites now have 67 points and lie in fourth position.

They travel next to Murcia and try to gain another victory and continue fighting to reach third position, which is currently occupied in the table by Phoenix of Zaragoza with 72 points. The La Vila line-up was formed by Agustín Pacheco, Nacho Caini, Miguel Ángel Ponce, Rodrigo Lacoste, Francisco Martínez, Guillem Carrión, Leo Bouin, Marcos Benítez, Mati Jara, Juan Manuel Quirante, Francisco Ferreyra, Martín Visuara, Fernando Díaz, Tomás Etcheverry, Gonzalo Sabadín, Óscar Muñoz, Federico Samartano, Matt Cook, Juan Ignacio Vinaches and Álex Sheroziya.
