Eddie's Final Whistle
2nd B Division, Group 3
Match day 25 – February 16 CE Sabadell FC 2 – 1 Orihuela CF
Another defeat for Orihuela, this time away against the league leaders, was certainly not unexpected. But this defeat means they stay at the bottom of the group for at least another week as they are five points outside the first automatic safety place.
But this was a much improved performance by Orihuela who dominated large parts of the game and actually took the lead, in the 68th minute, as Chechu Flores opened the scoring.
However, the league leaders, who came into this game on the back of two defeats, turned things around with goals in the 76th and 84th minutes to take all three points.
Hercules CF 0 – 0 UE Llagostera
Hercules remain in 17th position which is one of the relegation places, after being unable to take all three points against Llagostera at their Rico Perez Stadium.
Having sacked manager Vicente Mir during the week, Hercules appointed reserve manager Antonio Moreno and despite not being able to start his tenure with a win, he and his players were warmly applauded as they came off at the end.
Hercules stay in the relegation position with 22 points, the same as Badalona (18th position) and one point ahead of both AE Prat (19th place) and Orihuela CF who are in 20th position, also on 21 points. Atletico Levante UD 1 – 2 FC Barcelona B
Atletico Levante are having a good season but were beaten in this game as FC Barcelona “B” took all three points and climb into joint third position,
This match was decided in four first half minutes. The visitors took the lead after 29 minutes before Levante equalised on 33 minutes. But less than a minute later, it was Barcelona who regained their lead although the goal was vehemently protested by the Levante players and supporters as they are adamant it did not cross the goal line. Barcelona took all three points to leave Levante in 11th position with 32 points.
Villarreal CF B 2 – 1 FC Andorra
An excellent win by the Villarreal reserve side against one of the better sides in the division, although they have slipped a little since the turn of the year.
An early goal after just 8 minutes from Mujica game the home side the lead before Forgas, on 38 minutes, equalised for Andorra before Lozano scored what would be the winning goal for Villarreal, after 66 minutes.
The win for Villarreal moves them up into second place with 47 points and just two points behind the league leaders, CE Sabadell. Andorra on the other hand, after a great start to the season, have slipped down to 9th position with 37 points.
CF Badalona 1 – 1 CD Castellon
CD Castellon are in joint 3rd position which would, should they finish the season as they are now, get them into the Play Off matches. However, they missed a great chance to make ground on the leading two sides, Sabadell (47 points) and Villarreal B (45 points). Castellon have 44 points, the same points total as FC Barcelona B and UE Cornella.
The home side led from the 30th minute of this match and although Castellon gave their all, it was not until the 75th minute of the game that they managed to equalise when forward Ortuño found the back of the home net.
The draw leaves Badalona in 18th position with 22 points, one more than the two teams below them in the relegation zone.
RCD Español 0 – 0 Valencia CF Mestalla
The Valencia CF reserves travelled up to Barcelona and gained a notable point from their match against an Español B side who are having a very good season.
Neither side could break the deadlock in this game, despite both sides having chances. Although the home side had the better of the first half, as time went on, it was Valencia who created the best of the chances on show, without being able to put any of them away.
Español are in 6th position with 39 points after this game and are only 5 points outside of the top four Play Off places with Valencia Mestalla on 24 points in 16th position, one place above the automatic relegation zone but still too close for comfort.
UE Olot 4 – 0 CF La Nucia
A terrible outing for La Nucia as they travelled north to Olot and ended up well beaten. Two goals in the first 45 minutes and a further two in the second half, gave the points to the home side and inflicted the heaviest defeat of the season on 'Los Nucieros'.
This win leaves UE Olot in 8th position with 37 points and seven points outside the top four places.
La Nucia drop down to 10th place with 32 points.

25 matches unbeaten and those in the chasing pack dropping points, means that CD Alcoyano have now almost certainly wrapped up this group with no less than 13 matches still to play.

UD Alzira, showing a bit of consistence since the turn of the year, are in third position with 45 points with Atzeneta, a real surprise this season, in the final Play Off position with 43 points.
Looking at those clubs just outside the top four places, Villarreal C are in fifth position with 42 points and CD Roda are in sixth place on 37 points.
