Alfaz Fantasy Football League

-

Week 25

The last week of the winter break once again slowed down the pace of the Alfaz Fantasy Football League with the average score a lowly 15 points, 2nd lowest of the season.

The five Premier League games that took place gave the A.F.F.L. a total of 13 goals, 4 clean sheets, 15 yellow cards and 1 red one which was Leicester City's mid-field Player Choudhury who was dismissed in the Friday night game between Wolves and the Foxes which finished in a boring 0-0 draw (so much for giving the players a rest).

Wade's team, Alli Barber held on to the top spot of 26th A.F.F.L. for the fourth week running and they have now got a 25-point cushion over Chris's team Promotion Again. Hannakins, Napali Eleven and Wolves will Tweet U all remain in 3rd, 4th and 5th place.

Bob's team The Strikers have been stuck at the bottom for the last six weeks and they are currently lagging 56 points behind Gil's Kippax.

Debbie's Foxy Filberts relentless pace at the top of our Mark Carter Ladies Section has opened up a formidable 57-point advantage over 2nd placed Liz's Cookies Crew 61. Hannah's team, Dinty Dave have moved into 4th place and are 9 points away from 3rd placed Elain's Dizzie Blonde. Down at the other end of the table, Gil's Kippax remain over the trap door and are trailing Lyn's Handbrake City by 11 points.

In our Junior League Harley's Ginger Ninja are going from strength to strength at the top as they have taken a 27-point advantage over Lucky Red F.C. If there was a reward for the most improved team in the League it would go to Romeo's team My Dad Supports Liverpool who have whittled down a 65-point deficit at the bottom and are now only 6 points away from saving themselves from relegation.

Once again, with not many goals being scored, points were hard to come by in our Across the Costa's Golden Boot League. Catherine's Pompey Hammers held on to the summit for the 3rd week running and have a small 5-point lead over Ginger Ninjar who was one of the top scorers in this section with 17 points along with Bill's East Fifers.

The Ninjars have Southampton's Danny Ings in their LineUp who has so far picked up 80 points in this section. His goals have dragged Southampton out of the relegation zone. Only three more managers selected the Saints striker and they were Hannah's team Dinty Dave, Mick's Walkden Town Res and Vinnie's Juggernaut Jones. Mark's Tory Boys United continue to hold the rest of the League up and are not yet in serious trouble as they are only 3 points adrift of Bob's team The Strikers.

There are no changes at the top of our Champion of Champions League with runaway leaders Alli Barber stretching their advantage to a mega 154 points over Martin's Marauders. At the other end, Gil's Kippax have slipped further behind Luna's Liver Birds the distance now 21 points.

Our top scoring team this week was Val's Sol Valley Marauders with a tally of 47 points, most of them coming from 4 Wolves defenders and one Liverpool defender who all scored 6 points each. They will go into our monthly wine draw along with 6 teams who got the lowest score of a big fat zero.

Tom's Quantrill's Raiders look a good bet to win our Manager of the Month for February which is being sponsored by the Brew Rock in Albir who have a super international menu as well has having live music daily.

Currently the Raiders have a 17-point lead over Liverpool 94. Both teams are full of Liverpool players so their game this weekend against the Hammers could be crucial. Mind you, Kyle's All Stars, Chips Choice and the in-form Prove Your the Best are all still in contention for this super meal for two at this top restaurant.

The draw for the Quarter Finals of our K.O.Cup Competition will soon be up on our website and will take place the weekend March 7 and 8.

Most of all our leagues remain very open with the exception of our Champion of Champions League as we head towards the last third of the season. Based on past history, it suggests that the teams left with players in the F.A.Cup will have a much better chance of lifting our much sought after Fantasy League trophy.

So it's important to follow your team’s progress in all the competitions as we head to all the finishing lines by visiting our very popular website which is www.alfazffl.com.
