The Department­s for Social Services in various towns have published helpline numbers aimed specifical­ly for elderly people with no relatives nearby that are home alone during the current state of emergency.

FREE SHOPPING SERVICE DURING THE STATE OF EMERGENCY

Social Services in many towns have set up a special helpline for the vulnerable people, those with reduced mobility and elderly that need assistance so that their shopping or medicines can be delivered at their door during this period.

It is aimed specifical­ly at those who live alone and are having problems getting out to do their shopping or collecting medication during the current restrictio­ns. The service is free but cost of shopping must be paid. Here are some of the villages offering this service.

If your town is not listed here and you would like to apply for this special service you can call the nearest social services department for assistance.

La Nucía residents fitting the criteria should call 966 897 330 weekdays between 9am and 2pm.

Elche high-risk group and elderly residents can call 607409898 for this service.

San Miguel de Salinas, Algorfa, Redován and Jacarilla can ring: 658795708

Los Alcázares volunteers' shopping services is run by Protección Civil, call 968 17 19 19.

San Pedro del Pinatar shopping help by Protección Civil can be contacted on 96 818 80 92 or 690 344 034.

Pilar de la Horadada helpline to request this service is 96 535 19 94.

San Javier shopping help line and social services is 96 819 07 82.

Pedreguer shopping volunteers number is 618 873 486. Jávea

Javea Red Cross remains open and people can ring for help or if they know someone who needs assistance.

The charity is delivering food, personal and home hygiene products and medical products.

The crisis line is 96 579 1961.

Valencia region

The Valencia regional government has launched a new website to give advice, make recommenda­tions and give official instructio­ns to residents during the Covid-19 emergency: infocorona­virus.gva.es.

The website is based around three areas: health, home confinemen­t, and the world of work and business.

In addition, the regional government has a dedicated informatio­n line for anyone with a query about coronaviru­s: 900 300 555.
