Latest virus figures for Valencia region

Regional health department offers ‘telephone appointmen­t’ for people showing symptoms of the coronaviru­s

COUNCILLOR for health in Valencia region, Ana Barceló gave a press conference at midday yesterday (Thursday) to report the figures relating to the coronaviru­s outbreak for the previous 24 hours.

Sra Barceló stated that a further 24 people had died in that time – four fewer than the previous 24 hours, taking the total to 167 in the Valencia region.

Of these, 81 deaths have occurred in Alicante province, 72 in Valencia province, and 14 in Castellón.

A total of 44 of the deceased were residents in old people’s homes.

Sra Barceló noted that there have been 584 new cases of coronaviru­s – compared with 449 reported in the previous 24 hours.

Of these 181 were in Alicante province, 301 in Valencia province, and 102 in Castellón.

This brings the total to 3,200 – with 1,278 of the patients being treated in hospital and 230 in intensive care, she explained.

There are 1,039 active cases in Alicante province – 410 in hospital and 72 in intensive care; in Valencia province 1,788 cases – 724 in hospital and 128 in intensive care; and in Castellón 373 cases – 144 in hospital and 30 in intensive care.

A total of 54 patients have made complete recoveries – 36 in Valencia province, 17 in Alicante and four in Castellón.

Sra Barceló noted that from yesterday (Thursday) the regional health department was offering ‘telephone appointmen­t’ for people showing symptoms of the coronaviru­s.

Patients would have to key in their SIP health card number, date of birth and a contact telephone number at the webpage coronaviru­sregistro.san.gva.es/sipcovid19/ ?language=ca

“This person will receive a call in the shortest time possible from when the appointmen­t is confirmed,” said Sra Barceló.

“If during this phone call the healthcare profession­al identifies the case as potentiall­y being coronaviru­s, then further calls will be programmed into the system so they can follow the evolution of the patient.”

Murcia region

A total of 587 people are officially infected with Covid-19 in the Murcia region, according to figures released on Wednesday night by the regional

A spokesman for the regional health authority pointed out that 415 of them are recovering at home, 172 are in hospital, and 36 of them are in intensive care.

A total of eight people have died of coronaviru­s and nine have recovered.

The authoritie­s have contacted the army’s emergency unit (UME) to start planning the building of a field hospital next to Virgen de la Arrixaca hospital in Murcia city.
