Marina Alta GP surgeries restricted: Village clinics closed
Smaller doctors' surgeries in the Marina Alta have been shut down in full or in part during the lockdown period, and patients are requested to phone in first to find out if they need to attend in person.
The practice in El Verger will open Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and the one in Ondara, on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays – both of them 24 hours a day to attend to outof-hours emergencies, as usual.
GP clinics in Beniarbeig, Els Poblets and Benidoleig have closed down, and residents in these villages will be served by Ondara and El Verger.
The surgery in L'Atzúvia, also serving Forna, is now shut and residents there will now be attended to at the health centre in Pego.
All medical attention at the centres in Benitatxell and Moraira is now given at the clinic in Teulada, and in Jávea, the main clinic will see patients who usually go to the surgery in the port. Calpe has moved its paediatric unit to the Casa del Mar. Patients who need, or think they need, to see a GP should first ring the health centre now dealing with their area to describe their problem or query, since in many cases, advice can be given by telephone, including repeat prescriptions.
At Teulada medical centre human and medical resources will be doubled and the hours will be extended from 08.00 to 21.30 for consultations, and 24 hours a day for emergencies. During the weekend, the consultation hours will be from 09.00 to 21.00.
This measure does not affect home visits, which will remain as before, as well as pregnancy monitoring. The medical team asks residents to telephone for a medical consultation first if they feel they need to speak to a doctor.
In addition, with the new measures on updating prescriptions in force, it will not be necessary to go to the health centre, as the pharmacies will dispense repeat prescriptions temporarily on presentation of a SIP card.
The telephone number for Benitachell medical centre is 965 73 90 85, and for Moraira it is 965 73 90 80. These numbers will still be manned.
