Terra Natura experience from home!

- By Irena Bodnarec ibodnarec@cbnews.es

With children off school due to the current state of emergency, many will be feeling overwhelmed with suddenly becoming parents and home schoolteachers.

But one of Benidorm’s most popular tourist attractions,

Terra Natura Wildlife Park, although currently closed due to the lockdown, have come up with a fantastic solution to keep them engaged – a virtual walking tour and educational fun games session over the internet.

For those that have never had the pleasure of going, you get to explore the 3 zones – America, Asia and Europe, housing animals native to those continents living in their natural environment plus Pangea, full of fascinating poisonous creatures such as snakes, scorpions and tarantulas! The animals are not confined to tiny cages, but roam freely in vast open areas which you can follow either aerially via drone footage or walk along the paths as if really there.

The park runs a successful breeding program for endangered species, and you get to see a selection of stunning close up colour photographs of some of them.

To activate the games click on the console pic in the bottom righthand corner, with the elephant icon, which then takes you on to three tasks that need to be completed. In the first game you have to answer multiple choice questions, with 4 options but the answers can be found in the park. When you take the virtual walk there are cartoon children which have speech bubbles with information… the answers will be there, you just need to search in the correct area. The other tasks involve finding three animal footprints across the park and correctly answering some interesting facts about the animals. Obviously, it is all in Spanish, so also a great way to practice your language skills!

Once you have had the experience you’ll certainly want to visit the wildlife park for real once this lockdown and restriction on movement is over – and what a great way to celebrate.

Go to the Terra Natura website at http://benidorm.terranatura.com/en/ then click on “start here’ in the #stayathome section on the opening page.
