Councils offer cash

SEVERAL local councils are offering aid so that residents whose income has been affected by the state of emergency can obtain basic necessitie­s and cover living expenses.

Pilar de la Horadada is set to help residents, small businesses and self-employed people with €1 million in aid and local tax relief.

The aim is to help local employers and the economy to recover as soon as possible once the health crisis is over, exThe plained mayor José María Pérez.

The measures will be available in a few weeks once changes have been made to the budget. He said some council department­s will have their budgets cut and funds for fiestas and events will also be used.

Applicants must have suffered a large drop in monthly income, be on the municipal register (padrón) and have no alternativ­e income.

Companies, self-employed people and residents can also claim back local taxes paid during the state of emergency.

council will refund fees paid for the early care service and sports, culture and education activities.

Households will get a 15% reduction on sewage tax until the end of the year.

During the state of emergency, bar and restaurant owners and market traders will not pay fees for terraces or stalls. Those who provide the services all year round will be exempt from these and refuse collection charges until December 31.

The scheme will be managed from the town hall OAD office. The mayor also said the council will speed up payments to its suppliers so these companies can improve their cash flow.

Los Montesinos

Los Montesinos town hall has launched an aid plan with 40 measures, including help for vulnerable people to cover basic expenses.

The programme ‘Como sanocome en casa’ (eat healthy, eat at home) delivers meals to the homes of elderly and dependent people.

Other concerns include residents with special needs, victims of gender violence, single parent families and large families.

Social services councillor Nathalie Dubi said conditions to apply are being finalised and psychologi­cal attention is available online and by telephone.

Refunds or exemptions are also being offered for some municipal fees, taxes and activities.

Calpe and La Nucía

Calpe town hall has establishe­d protocols for residents to access aid and requests must be made by the person in need.

Those who require financial assistance can telephone 965 837 223 or email servsocial­es@ajcalp.es. The service began on Monday.

La Nucía is also offering between €125 and €250 to low -income families depending on their size. Requests can be made by phoning 96 689 73 30, or mobile phoness 661 689 465, 678 655 902 (9.00-14.00).
