Store opening times modified
ALL stores allowed to open under the state of emergency decree now have to close their doors by 19.00.
The resolution was published by the delegation for the national government in the Valencia region last Thursday.
Additionally, stores with a surface area of less than 300m2, which had been allowed to open on Sundays, will no longer be able to do so – except bakeries, newspaper shops, pharmacies, petrol stations and convenience stores.
The measures will remain in place until the state of emergency ends.
Supermarkets on the Mar Menor, Cartagena, Portmán, Mazarrón, Águilas, Moratalla, Puntas de Calnegre and El Berro in Alhama de Murcia have been allowed to open again on Sundays and bank holidays but they have to close at 19.00.
The regional government had ordered them to shut down before the state of emergency was declared due to the large number of people arriving from Madrid to spend quarantine in the area.
The decision has been criticised by local mayors who claimed it puts people’s health at risk.
What shops are open?
A list of over 120 businesses in Torrevieja which are offering services during the state of emergency has been published by the local association of small and medium-sized businesses (APYMECO).
It gives the businesses’ names, addresses, contact details and current opening hours, as well as whether they offer customers the possibility to collect orders from shops, to order from a website or by telephone, or to get products delivered to their home.
They include pharmacies, opticians, parapharmacies, food, newsagents, disinfection services, technology, stationery, books and more.

Guardamar del Segura town hall is publishing a list of food shops in the municipality that are offering collection or delivery services, and another one of shops selling other goods that offer free delivery.
