Mini Leagues

With the Premier League and Alfaz Fantasy Football League still on hold due to the dreaded coronavirus outbreak, it gives us a chance to look at what has been happening in our 10 mini leagues this season.

C.B.E.S.

The Costa Blanca Electric Services have been involved with the A.F.F.L. for at least 10 years, and in that time they have picked up one major trophy which was last season when Kevin's team Two for the Road won our Golden Boot League. This season their top performers are Colin's Bentley Boys who top their section with a 57 point lead over Vina's City Link.

At the other end of the table, Jenny's side Madam Tree are trailing Ian's team Old Slappers by 34 points.

LAS VEGAS CLAN

The Las Vegas Clan have also been part of the A.F.F.L. for over 10 years which has seen them win eight major trophys, Liz's Lads (2), Gil's Kippax (1), Abbey Brigade (2), Simple (1), Pam's People (1) and Jimmy's Nick's Blues who won our F.A. Cup League last season. Harley's Ginger Ninjar could add to that list as they are at the moment top of the Junior League and in the last four of our K.O. Cup.

Down at the foot of the table, Gil's being greedy with her two teams, Gil's Kippax & Gil's Eastlanders fighting it out for the Wooden Spoon.

KASBRANE BLUES

Kasbrane Blues are fairly new to the A.F.F.L. as this is their second season taking part and have yet to get their hand on a major trophy. Their best chance of winning something this season rests on Isobel's shoulders has her team The Bluebells are close to the top in our Ladies Section. Harrison's Boden Boys have been joined by his grandad's team, The Hatters at the bottom.

THE LOCAL

A newcomer to the Fantasy League, is in pole position at the Local, with Val's Sol Valley Marauders having a slim 4 point margin over Len's team Prove You Are The Best while at the other end,

Terry's Yorkshire White Rose are 37 points adrift of Romeo's team My Dad Supports Liverpool.

The Local provided last season's Champions when Linda's Team Tapas won the Fantasy League by 30 points. The only other team in this section to pick up a top trophy was Macca's Albir Villains when they lifted our K.O. Cup in 2006.

WINNING POST

Over the years, the Winning Post have had their share of winners with Wayne's teams, I Hope I Do Better (F.A. Cup League), Two Years Running, Maybe (Golden Boot League) and to top them all they won the A.F.F.L. in the year 2018 with the aptly named Gunnerwinithisyear. He won't be amongst the prizes this year, with young Luca's Lucky Red F.C. looking to be the 1st past the Winning Post this season.

Mill's Marvels are in deep water at the bottom and are 30 points behind Colleen's team The Winning Post.

HEPBURNS

Hepburns have always supported the Fantasy League and have yet to provide us with a winner. Chips Choice is their inform team at the top of their League with a little 18 point lead over Sol Valley Marauders.

Gary's team Blue Moon F.C. are struggling at the bottom of the pile and are 26 points away from Dave's Sky Blue Army.

Catherine's Pompey Hammaers are looking a good bet to win this season's Golden Boot League as they have a 15 point advantage at the top over Grahem's Laurel & Vardy.

THE DRUNKEN DUCK

The Drunken Duck is the biggest of our mini leagues with no less than 20 teams taking part. Currently, Nikki's No Hopers are leading the way with a 36 point cushion over Liverpool 94.

Luna's Liver Birds won the A.F.F.L. and Ladies Section in 2008 but since then they have been on a downward spiral and have now found themselves fighting against relegation with just 13 points between them and Lyn's Handbrake City at the bottom.

On a bright note it's worth mentioning that Simon's team As Terrible are in the semi-final of our K.O. Cup competition.

LIL'S LOUNGE

Chris's team Promotion Again could win this season's Fantasy League if they can make up 13 points on the present leaders Wade's Alli Barber if not they will have to settle for winning the Lil's Lounge league because of the massive 100 point gap between them and Kevin's team So Var So Good.

Bob's team, The Strikers will almost certainly collect a Wooden Spoon this season as they are an unbelievable 153 points behind Sky Blue Army.

DROP INN

The Drop Inn in Benidorm, have also supported the Fantasy League from the early days. One of their most consistent teams on the Calle Londres is Clarky's Deportivoclarkoruna who once again are top dogs with a slender 14 point advantage over Ross's R.F.C. 1872.

At the opposite end of the table Sandra's Scorers are in all kinds of trouble by having a massive deficet of 180 points behind Neil's Blue Moon Rising.

MAGIC MOMENTS

This mini league is run by Terry Williams and is mainly a family and friends group. Terry's team Hannahkins is romping away with this section with× a 148 point gap between 2nd placed Hup Hannah City.

There is a 20 point difference at the bottom betwen Olivia's La Catalana and Javi's Skateboards.

Terry's team Come on my Cockers won the Fantasy League in the 2012 Season while his mate Ian won the F.A. Cup League with Tasty Toffees in 2016.

The draw for the semi-finals of our K.O. Cup competition has the favourites Hannakins taking on our Junior manager's team Ginger Ninjar while the other semi is between Jack's team Winners and Simon's As Terribles.
