Los Montesinos launches aid
THE MAYOR of Los Montesinos has reported that the period to apply for the town hall’s social aid to help with the Covid-19 crisis is now open.
This includes measures to cover basic costs for food, housing, medications, hygiene and energy bills, as well as the ‘Como sano-come en casa’ that delivers healthy meals to the elderly and dependants.
Mayor José Manuel Butrón said this emergency aid will help to relieve the difficult situation that many families have been overcome by, and is in addition to the usual work of social services with the municipality’s poorest families.
The payments can be up to €600 and the conditions are on the municipal website, www.losmonteinos.es
Before applying, social services should be contacted to make an evaluation, either by calling 96 672 14 14 or email serviciossocialescovid19@los montesinos.org
Social services councillor Nathalie Dubi noted that psychological help is available online and by phone, and can be arranged by email to psicologa@losmontesinos.org
Exemptions have been approved from municipal fees for businesses (e.g. bar terraces, market stalls) and residents (sports, exercise for seniors, theatre). If they have already been paid, refunds can be requested by email to contabilidad@losmontesinos.org otherwise they will be exempted from next year’s fees.
Councillor Ana Belén Juárez said the local development office (AEDL) can provide advice to individuals and businesses about what aid is available by calling 900 701 324 (which is free) or 669 171 823 between 09.00 and 14.00.
“These are the first measures but we are working to develop other economic actions which require modification of bylaws and adaptation of municipal services,” explained Sra Juárez.
“We will do everything in our power to guarantee the wellbeing of people and the economic momentum of local businesses.”
